Urgent Phone Call

1130 Words
As soon as my head hit the pillow I was asleep, there was a lot of appointments today and using that much power left me grateful for my later start. I land firmly in my meadow, the sun is shinning and the flowers that I have tried to identify still seem unworldly. The usual smell of the forest after the rain and fresh cut grass has greeted me and all I have to do is wait for the growling to begin I wonder who will be chasing who tonight. It always goes the same way either I’m being hunted or being the hunter. The meadow is quieter than normal something feels off. “Hello” I call not that anyone ever answers. “Are we being mysterious tonight, I’ve had a long day I’m not really in the mood for the more than usual mind games” I call out again. “ Great talking to myself like that ever got me anywhere” muttering away to myself I move towards the tree line hoping that the feeling of the hunt will start as I really don’t want to be the hunted tonight. Moving soundlessly through the forest I can actually take it in for the change. It beautiful but the feeling is old I sense the hum to the trees like a power is flowing through them “ That because this forest is ancient how can you not feel it” a strong voice sounds. “ Who is it, I can hear you” I shout as a spin in all directions trying to find the source of the sound. “You wont see me for a seer your really not insightful at all, are you?” the voice whispers as if at my ear. “ You are clearly mistaken I’m not the see, just a witch” I reply trying to keep the shake out of my voice. A clear laugh rings out through the trees “ Oh silly child I know exactly who you are because I am part of you. If you truly listened you will hear”. If I truly listen I will hear what does that even mean. I sink into my mediation pose and fall into my meditative state. “Now do you see” the voice calls, in an explosion of white I am face to face with a white wolf. Trying to remain calm so as not to break my concentration I reach out touch the fur, the wolf dances away laughing. “Not yet child my name is Iris, tell my Aeolus that we will be together soon” I slowly pull my hand back slightly disappointed. “ Don’t be disappointment child we are one I will be awoken soon and we will have all the time then” she states as if reading my mind. My face really is an open book my mother often told me she could have a full conversation with just the expressions on my face. “ Tell Aeolus to the bone he will know what it means” she says as her bright yellow eyes stare into mine. The brightness begins to fade and I’m back in the meadow flat on my back feeling bereft but of what I don’t know. I hear a panting off to my left. I have no feeling of running this time as I slowly sit up, there on my left is the biggest black wolf i have ever seen and he is only sitting. He slowly makes his way towards me but stays out of my reach. “Who are you” I ask hoping for an answer after all these years in the meadow it feels like i might actually have an answer. “ You know me” a rich male voice calls. It wraps around me in a caress that instantly heats my body. “Aeolus” passes my plump lips. A small nod is all I get in confirmation that I am right. “To the bone Iris says” his eyes turn from deep brown to green in a flash I almost missed it. “What does that mean Aeolus” I ask nervous for the answer anything with the bone cannot be good. He nods again as if the sentence he used is all he could say. Before I could even form another question, Aeolus crouches down into a hunched position and springs into a pounce. Before I even have time to shield myself he latches onto my shoulder and bites down with an unbreakable force. My scream unnatural in my throat, ripes its way out and somehow pushes Aeolus from me. I awake screaming, scrambling at my shoulder to make sure my arm is still intact. “Louise what is it open this door” Elder Gwen shouts outside my door. My scream must of hit the door with such force that it must of jammed. I untangle myself from my blanket and stumble to the door. Pulling the door with all my might it finally opens, to reveal a completely dishevelled looking Gwen. “How can anyone get a proper nights rest with you screaming the place down” she spits at me. “Well unlike you Gwen I actually work and unlike some people I have nightmares that seem all too real” I hiss at her. Her eyes pin me with a stare me and my mouth are going to get me locked to my room for the next month. “ You ungrateful child if it wasn’t for me some demon or Goddess knows what, would of come and take you off our hands years ago, you are nothing but a nuisance and it if it wasn’t for your seer abilities you would of been exiled from here as soon as you were of age” my mouth drops open it would of been better if she had smacked me across the face. I draw in a deep breath to lash her with my reply when the phone begins to ring. We both look at one another knowing a call at this hour is never good. Ring Ring is calls again. Stepping away from Elder Gwen I move to answer it, taking a calming breath as I go. “Hello, Oak Grove Coven Seers office. How may I help you?” I answer as calmly as I can being shaken by both the dream and Gwen’s words. “ Yes, yes i know who i have rang i need an urgent appointment for my son he has gone mad. I am the Alpha of the Red Dawn Pack, we will be there my sunrise.” I glance at my watch it 4 am they will be here in an hour.
