The hall was filled with anticipation as employees filed into their seats, the air heavy with the murmur of speculation and everyone was eager to witness the man who had become the talk of the company. The chairs were neatly arranged, and the front rows were reserved for the company’s highest-ranking officials, with the Chairman seated prominently at the very front.
Amelia and her colleagues settled into their seats, side by side, the energy in the room palpable. As they adjusted to their surroundings, Mr. Evans leaned in, his voice low but filled with intrigue.
"Anyway," he began, eyes scanning the room, "looks like the rumors are true. The CEO is quite a workaholic. He’s starting work the day he came back to the U.S."
Laura, sitting beside him, blushed at the mention of the CEO. “I heard he’s really hot,” she whispered, almost too eagerly.
Amelia chuckled, her gaze moving to the front of the room, where the Chairman sat. "Who knows?" she said, her tone casual yet thoughtful. "He wasn’t here when I joined the company, so I never saw him. But look at the Chairman," she added, nodding toward the man sitting proudly at the front. "How hot could the grandson be?"
Laura's eyes widened with a mix of excitement and curiosity. "So the rumors might be true?" she asked, leaning closer to Amelia, a grin tugging at her lips.
Ms. Harper, who had been quietly observing, finally spoke up, her voice clipped and authoritative. "He's really handsome. Looks like a celebrity," she remarked, her gaze still fixed on the front of the room.
Amelia couldn’t resist a laugh, her voice light and teasing. "The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, you know."
As the end of the chatter subsided, an announcement echoed through the hall, drawing everyone’s attention. A man stepped up to the podium, his posture straight and confident.
“The CEO will now make his inauguration address,” the announcer said, his voice projecting through the microphone. The Chairman, whose stern expression had softened, broke into a satisfied smile. A ripple of applause began, swelling across the room as people clapped in eager anticipation.
But then, the atmosphere shifted.
A figure emerged from behind the curtains, and as soon as he stepped forward, the Chairman’s smile faltered. His expression shifted to one of confusion. “Why is he here?” he muttered under his breath, his eyes narrowing in disbelief.
Laura, oblivious to the sudden change in the air, leaned over and whispered, “He is so hot.”
Ms. Harper, surprised by Laura’s comment, raised an eyebrow. "That's not the CEO," she said, her voice tinged with confusion.
Laura blinked, her excitement faltering. “What do you—”
Before she could finish her sentence, the man at the podium spoke, his voice clear and authoritative.
“Hello, everyone,” he said, his tone calm and professional. “I am Chief Secretary Ethan Montgomery, and I am here on behalf of the CEO, Cassian Vale.”
A murmur swept through the hall, confusion rippling through the crowd as people exchanged puzzled glances. Amelia leaned back in her seat, her thoughts racing. The Chief Secretary? She could feel her curiosity piquing, her mind racing to understand what was happening.
Ethan continued, his voice unwavering. “I will now deliver the CEO’s inauguration address.”
The Chairman, still seated at the front, muttered under his breath, “What is this?”
Ethan, undeterred, pressed on. “Thank you to everyone who arranged today’s ceremony, although I clearly told you I didn’t want one. I hope going forward, we will meet for business matters, not for such impractical and ceremonial events. I will properly introduce myself soon.”
Ethan’s gaze flickered over the crowd once more before he gave a short nod. “CEO Cassian Vale. That will be all,” he repeated, his tone final.
Laura, still processing what had just happened, leaned over to Amelia and whispered, “Is that all?”
Amelia couldn't help but chuckle softly. "This is amazing," she murmured to herself, her amusement growing at the unexpected turn of events.
The Chairman, clearly furious, stood abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. “God, these bastards! Damn it!” he muttered as he stormed out of the hall, followed closely by a group of executives who seemed just as flustered.
Ms. Harper watched the scene unfold, her expression one of disbelief. "Oh my God, he’s mad," she said, her voice tinged with shock. “But where is the CEO?”
Amelia, still processing the bizarre turn of events, glanced at her superior and smiled lightly. "The new CEO sure seems like an interesting person," she remarked.
