Running from the unkowning

1133 Words
The sound of men talking behind the bush interrupted her thought and she turned to where the sound might be coming from. “Oh thank goodness, I'll be finally saved” she let out as she was happy to have been rescued. Stephanie got up and at the same time the men came to view, she smiled broadly and was about to say something when one of them spoke up. “There she is. Get before she runs again” the man who appeared to be the leader growled, his brows scowl as he pointed aggressively at her. “Don't let her get away this time” he commanded and men began running towards her. “I think this is a time to run” her wolf said within her she picked up the pace despite her aching legs. Stephanie found herself running deep into the forest and she was still confused how her saviour turned to her attacker. The ran for half an hour before she saw the cave and decided to hide herself in there. Luckily for her the men didn't see her. Her breath became rasped as she struggled to keep calm. “I guess I lost them” she let out before sitting down at the bare floor” “I see you're tired” a woman's voice startled her and she jolted backwards. “I'm sorry did I scare you?” The woman spoke again but Stephanie remained quiet. The cave was too dark to see anyone and for all she knew, she might be hallucinating. “I woke up and suddenly all these. What is happening to me?” She said Internally. The woman began walking out to a light where Stephanie was able to see her. And it wasn't what she expected, she was in her sixties and seemed to be..blind. “Who are you?” Stephanie asked, getting up and dusting her clothes. “An answer to your questions” the woman said and smiled, her face wrinkling as she did. Stephanie, still perplexed, stood on guard. “I cannot trust anyone for now” she said to herself. “I understand if you don't trust me.. Stephanie” as if she read her mind. Stephanie was shocked as to how she knew her name. “How did you know..no, who are you?” She demanded, clenching her first. But the lady turned around and began walking deep into the shadows “I've been waiting for five years Steph. And I'm ready to help you with your revenge”. Stephanie and the woman, Gwen, were back at her mansion. She couldn't believe such a woman having a house like this, even if her husband doesn't have this amount of wealth. “Like what you see?” Gwen said as she took a seat in the living room. Stephanie sat down across from her , still amazed by the decorations. Gwen let out a cough and began “Like I said, I’ve been looking for you for five years and I know about your plan” she said. “Did you say five years? How's that possible, if I can remember I was in the hospital and…” before she could put a word to it Gwen completed it. “You died. And have been dead for five years now.” Gwen spoke nonchalantly while sipping on a cup that her servant brought for her. Stephanie couldn't phantom what she had just heard and she Tried to wrap her head around it. “Five, five years?” She stammered, still finding it hard to believe. Gwen nodded and said “But that's not important. I was summoned by the moon goddess to help you with your revenge and because my Territory was involved I decided to help” Gwen explained. Stephanie went quiet for a while, searching for the right questions to ask as she had a lot. “Hold up. I've been dead for five years and I suddenly resurrected in this girl's body? It doesn't make sense” she let out in disbelief. Gwen adjusted herself and said “this girl whose body you're in possession of, gave up her life for you. And If I were you, I'd make the most out of it” Gwen said more like a threat than an advice. The both sat In silence as Stephanie tried to recall her revenge plan. “I really don't know what happened for the past five years or who this woman is, but all I know is, I'm going to deal with everyone that ever hurt me, especially the Thane's pack and once I'm done with them, I'll take my child with me.” she seethed within her as her fist bawled and Gwen noticed this. “I've enrolled you as Nanny in their mansion..” Gwen spoke up and Stephanie lifted up her head. “What?” “The Blackwood pack needs a nanny, Liam and his new wife are always away on business trips and they need a nanny to help them with their child.. which I assume is yours calculating the time you disappeared and the boy's age. So, from tomorrow, you're going to the mansion” she explained, leaving lots of details to it. Gwen seemed like a no nonsense woman despite her disability. “I still have a lot of questions to ask. Who.. I mean, who owns this body? What did those men want from me?” She stammered. Gwen smacked her lips and said “Ava. You're in Ava's body. She died while trying to run away from those men, however, I have no knowledge of her background and what those men wanted from her. But I'll tell you, when you get there. You're no longer Stephanie but Ava, do you understand?” She asked and Stephanie nodded in reply. “Good, first thing tomorrow, you're leaving. Now go and shower. You reek..Linda take her to her room” Gwen ordered her servant and Stephanie got up and followed her to her room. Immediately she got to her room, she freshened up and stepped out of the bathroom to her room where dinner was already waiting for her. Stephanie sat at a study table eating and strategizing her plan. Going over it over and over again. “I'll finally have my revenge. And I'll waste no time to end Liam. That's the objective, end Liam and take away my baby. But it won't be easy, he has a high security that'll make it difficult for me to pass.” She paused, her lips pressed together as she thought. “The. I'll have to make him fall all over for me, not Stephanie but Ava. I will have my revenge. No matter what!”
