Ahsha I panicked. I could hear his footsteps as I rushed down the hall of the Ahmad family portraits and to the front door, but it wouldn't budge. I turned running down another hall that led to a set of stairs. "Ahsha." Malik or rather Ares sang. I ran up the stairs which led to another set. "s**t, why did I wear this big ass dress," I said pausing only for a moment to catch my breath. I ran down the hall checking each door only to find them locked. I came to the second to the last door and amazingly it was open. I went inside and closed the door turned to look to see that this was man's room. From the intoxicating scent that surrounded me, it was obvious that this had to be Malik's room. "Great," I mumbled as I looked for somewhere to hide. The bathroom was too obvious. I couldn't fit under the bed because of my dress. I looked at the closet before rushing to it. I hid as far back into the closet as I could, pushing some of the clothes in front of me. I froze stilling my breath as I listened to the door open then closed. I could hear his heavy footsteps walking further into the room. My ears were ringing, my heart was racing, and I really, really needed to pee all of a sudden. It got quiet and in a split second the closet door was snatched open. There he stood in the doorway. I pushed myself further into the wall silently praying for him not to hurt me. He pushed the clothes I had used to cover me out of the way. I stood terrified as we locked eyes. He walked towards me and I couldn't control the tears that began to rush down my face. I squeezed my eyes shut waiting for his next move. "Look at me." He whispered darkly causing a shiver to run through my body. "Look. At. Me." He ordered. I opened my eyes and looked up at him. My heart was racing as he stared down at me intently. My body went rigid under his intense gaze as he crept closer. He lowered his head down to my level never breaking eye contact. He raised his hand up and gently caressed my cheek as he wiped away the fresh tears. "Take a deep breath." He said softly. I did. "Again." He said pressing his forehead against mine. I did it again and I felt myself calm down a little. His eyes flickered from black to green before resting on green. "Malik?" I asked worriedly. Ares I could smell the fear dripping off my mate and knowing I was the reason behind it angered me greatly but the chance that she putting up was exhilarating. I could hear her running up the stairs. "s**t, why did I wear this big ass dress?" I heard her mumble out of breath. I chuckled. I walked up the steps two at a time. Once I reached the top of the stairs I followed her scent down the hall to my room. I walked slowly giving her time to try and hide. I popped the door open with ease and walked in. I could smell her scent coming from the closet and I slowly made my way to the door and I could hear her heart racing. I opened the door and I saw her cowering in the back of my closet hiding behind some of my clothes.   She pushed herself further into the wall before I pushed the clothes she used as camouflage out of the way. She stood terrified as we locked eyes. I walked towards her and I could see some tears began to rush down her face. She squeezed her eyes shut waiting for me to do something. "Look at me," I whispered darkly seeing a shiver run over her body. "Look. At. Me." I ordered. She opened her eyes and looked up at me. I inhaled deeply loving her intoxicating scent as I stared down at her. Her body went rigid as I got closer to her. I lowered my head down to her level never breaking eye contact from her. I raised my hand up and gently caressed her cheek as I wiped away the fresh tears that rolled down her face. "Take a deep breath," I said softly. She took a shaky breath. "Again," I repeated pressing my forehead against hers. She did it again and I could see her calm down. I had calmed down enough to the point that Malik was able to come forward. "Malik?" She called. Malik I could feel the hurt and jealousy Ares was feeling when she called my name. "I told you not to run," I said. "How could I not when you changed into this..." She gestured timidly. "What are you? Why was everyone so calm like this is a normal everyday occurrence" She asked. "An Angel?" She asked looking at my wings. "Although I've never seen an angel with black wings." She mumbled to herself. Ares chuckled. "Technically," I said. "Will you come out?" I asked. She looked at me with fear still in her eyes. "Please Ahsha," I begged. She hesitantly nodded her head. "Okay." As we stepped into the room as a loud bang came from the door. "Ahsha!! Please open the door!!" I heard what sounded like Isaac yelling. Ahsha rushed to the door and Isaac ran in and before she could close it the door was kicked in and she was knocked to the ground. A low growl ripped from my chest as I went to help her up. Isaac rushed to his sister. I turned, pinning Veronica against the wall by her throat. "P-pl-ease." She breathed out. "Ahsha are you okay?" Isaac asked. "Yeah, I'm good." She said. "Malik stop it." I heard Ahsha say. I turned my head to the side cracking my neck. She walked over to me and hesitantly grabbed my arm. I could feel Ares simmer down. I looked back at Veronica before I let her fall to the ground. "Ahsha we need to get out of here," Isaac whispered. I growled lowly at Isaac. "Malik," Ahsha called looking at me. I tore my eyes away from Isaac to Ahsha. "Malik's going explain what he...they are," Ahsha said looking at her brother. "Sit down," I said gently. She stared at me before she walked over to the bed to sit down.  Ahsha Veronica came and stood next to Malik or Ares or whoever he was at the moment. "We are what humans call demons," Malik said. "Oh hell no," Isa said shaking his head. "Ahsha we don't play with demons," Isa whispered. I felt the same way but I wanted to hear what Malik had to say. "There are dozens of creatures that walk around amongst you like humans and you would never know it and we like it that way." He continued. "Where do we come into this?" I asked. "Soulmates. We all have them you happen to be mine." Malik said looking at me. "And you're mine." Veronica said looking at Isa. "And that means you have our hearts in every way. Our very being is to make you happy." Malik said staring me down. "You are mine and I am yours." He said staring down at me making me squirm. "What if I don't want to be yours?" I asked locking eyes with him. His eyes darkened as he clenched his jaw. "That's not an option." He said tight-lipped. "I didn't sign up for any of this," I said as I stood. "I don't want any of this. I..." I froze as I turned around to see I was no longer standing in a room with Veronica or my brother. It was a dark room with a huge window that overlooked the city. I turned to see Malik sitting on the bed looking at me. "Where are we?" I asked. "My apartment." He said. "Why?" I asked. "Because I want you to hear me out." He said. I turned and looked at him completely. "You know you felt something between us and if you say you didn't then you're a liar." He said as he stood. "How do I know you didn't make me have those feelings. Who's to say you can't make someone fall in love with you." I said bluntly. "I can." He said taking several steps towards me. I went to speak but he continued. "But because you're my mate my powers don't really work the same on you. I couldn't make you fall in love with even if I wanted to." He said before he fully reached me.  I looked up at him skeptical. "I don't think I want this," I said looking at his face. His eyes darkened slightly before resting on their usual green color. He walked closer to me pressing my back into the cold glass of the window. I hadn't noticed how I hot I was until now. He dropped his head down leaving no space between us as he looked at me. "You may not want me now but you will." He said calmly looking into my eyes before he pressed his lips against mine. He stole my breath away leaving me craving his touch before he said, "Open your eyes." I looked around to see we were back in the ballroom I looked around to see it had cleared out and it was just Malik's family and mine. Nunu rushed over to me wrapping her arms around my waist before my mom joined her. "Are you okay?" She asked grabbing my face as I stared behind her at Malik seeing him already looking at me. "Yes," I said. "Where's Isa?" I asked snapping out of my daze until he came walking into the ballroom holding Veronica's hand. He looked at me for a second before he rushed over to me. "Are you okay? Where did you go?" He asked. I shook my head. "What happened?" My dad asked as I was surrounded by my family. I fell silent for a moment. "She needs time," Malik said looking at me. His eyes flashed black as a dark smile graced his lips before Malik's green eye returned. Without another word he turned on his heels and left. His family looked at me before they followed his lead. Tyla and his mom, however, gave me sympathetic smiles before they left. I turned and looked at my own family before I headed out to the car.
