Chapter 1

733 Words
The first war horn echoed across the kingdom before midnight. Luna Natasha froze beside the palace window. Another horn followed. Then another. The sound cut through the darkness like a warning from the gods themselves. Slowly, she stepped forward and looked beyond the palace walls. Her heart stopped. Torches. Thousands of them. An army surrounded the kingdom. Their flames stretched across the horizon, turning the night into a sea of fire. “No…” Her trembling hand moved to her swollen stomach. Not tonight. Please not tonight. The chamber doors burst open. Alpha Oliver entered wearing silver battle armor stained with dust and blood. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Then he looked at her and said quietly, “They came sooner than expected.” Natasha shook her head. “No. You said the treaty would hold.” “So did I.” The silence between them felt heavier than the coming war. Outside, another explosion thundered through the palace. The floor trembled; screams rose from below. Natasha’s eyes widened. “The gates…” Oliver’s jaw tightened. “They’re breaking through.” Fear clawed at her chest. “You promised our child would be born into peace.” For a brief moment, pain flashed across his face. Then he crossed the room and placed his hand over her stomach. A kick answered him from within. His expression softened. “Our daughter is stronger than we know.” Natasha swallowed hard. “Then stay alive long enough to meet her.” The words nearly broke him. Outside, steel clashed against steel. The kingdom was already burning. Oliver leaned forward and rested his forehead against hers. “No matter what happens, protect her.” Natasha grabbed his arm. “We protect her.” His silver eyes met hers. A sad smile touched his lips. “You still believe I’m coming back.” Before she could answer, another explosion shook the palace. Dust rained from the ceiling. The walls groaned. Time had run out. Oliver stepped back. The warmth vanished from his face. The king disappeared. The Alpha King remained. His eyes glowed silver. Power rolled through the room like a storm. For the first time that night, Natasha looked at her husband not as the man she loved But as the strongest werewolf alive. Without another word, he turned and walked toward the door. Every step sounded like a farewell. “Oliver” He paused. Just for a second. Then he left. Natasha ran to the window. Below, chaos consumed the courtyard. Guards fought desperately against invading warriors. Fire climbed the palace banners. Blood stained the stone. Then a roar split the night. The battlefield froze. Oliver stood alone in the center of the courtyard. One man against an army. Moonlight touched his armor. Then he transformed. Silver light exploded around him. Armor shattered, Bones stretched, Muscles expanded. A massive silver wolf emerged from the light. The last werewolf king. The enemy soldiers hesitated. Some stepped back. Others charged; it didn’t matter. Oliver met them head-on. Claws flashed, Steel shattered, and warriors fell. The courtyard became a storm of silver and fire. Natasha watched with tears in her eyes. Every enemy he defeated was replaced by three more. There were simply too many. Then Pain struck her stomach. She gasped. Another contraction. The baby was coming. Now. A soft voice echoed behind her. “My Luna.” Natasha turned. Naomi, the oldest elder in the kingdom, stood at the doorway. Her face was pale. “We must leave.” Natasha looked back toward the battlefield. Toward her husband. Toward the kingdom they had built together. “No.” Naomi stepped forward. “The king gave his final order.” Natasha’s heart sank. Final order. Not battle order. Not emergency order. Final. Naomi’s eyes filled with tears. “The last bloodline must survive.” Outside, another roar shook the palace. Then suddenly, silence. Natasha’s breath caught. The battlefield had gone quiet. Too quiet. A moment later, a warrior’s voice echoed through the burning courtyard. “THE ALPHA KING HAS FALLEN!” Natasha froze. The world seemed to stop. Her knees nearly gave way. And deep inside her womb The child kicked. As if answering the announcement. As if refusing to believe it. Natasha slowly lifted her head. Tears burned in her eyes. If Oliver was truly gone… Then only one heir remained. The last bloodline.
