The second class was over, Allison was up and out of her chair so quickly you would have thought it was on fire. She made a b-line for the exit, disappearing from my gaze so quickly all I could do was stare at the empty space she’d left in surprise. What had I done wrong? Clearly she was upset, but after our banter at the beginning of class I’d completely left her alone. I felt like an i***t, a sinking feeling settling over me like a ton of bricks.
