Chapter 24

*Ashten*

Winter just called me and told me that she is in her apartment. She fainted at the cemetery and Emerson was there, so he took her to her apartment. He could have called us. Or should have done something. I am on my way to her apartment, now. I'm going to scream at her for running away like that and make her swear that she will never do this again.

" Are you okay? " I asked as soon as Winter opened the door. " I am fine. I just feel dizzy. " She said. Entering the room, I asked, " Why did you faint just because of being tired? " " Yes. Why else? " " You are not eating enough, then. You have to rest. Take the day off and stay at home. " " What? No. I have lots of work to do. " " Winter, If you don't rest, I am going to fire you from your job. " She gasped. " You wouldn't. " " I would. I can provide for both of us. If you don't rest for at least a day and go for a checkup, I am going to fire you from your job. " " You know how much this means to me. " She said. " Yes. And to continue to do this, you need to be healthy. So, rest. " I said, holding her shoulders. Sighing, she nodded. And I hugged her. " I was so worried about you. " I whispered. " I am sorry. " " Promise me, you will never run away like that. And whenever you have to go away, inform me. Okay? " I said, breaking the hug. " Okay. I promise. " " Thank you. " I hugged her once again. " Where was Rose? " " With Isaac. She was here actually. In Reinshart. " " Wow. They were having a nice moment. And we ruined it. " She shook her head in disappointment. " We didn't know, Winter. And stop thinking so much. You need to relax. " I said, massaging her shoulders. " Yes. You do. Drink this and take rest. " Emerson said, coming out of the kitchen. " What is that? " Winter asked, scrunching her face. " This is celery juice. Very nutritious. " Emerson said, handing her the drink. " I don't want to drink it. " Winter whined. " Drink up, Winter. " I said. I maybe mad at Emerson for not calling me or transporting to me to inform that he has Winter but she should drink it. When she looked at me, I said, " I'm with him on this, sweetheart. " She groaned and drank the whole content as fast as she could and then her face was green. " Drink this. " Emerson said, handing her a glass of lemon water. She immediately drank it and sighed. " That was horrible. I am never going to drink celery juice again. " She said, burping. " Then eat and sleep properly. " Emerson snapped. I looked at the eyes of the damned soul. He... Likes her? My eyes widened and I took a sharp breath in. " What happened? " Winter asked me, turning. " Nothing. You have to go to sleep. Come on. Let's go. " I pulled her to her bedroom and laid her down. " Good night. " I said and turned off the lights. " Good night, Ash. " She mumbled. Smiling, I closed the door.

I sat before Emerson. " Why didn't you call me? " My first question. " Because I don't have a phone. And before you ask another, I couldn't have left her alone. I was worried about her. " He said. Fine. He couldn't have really left her here. I would not have preferred that. It's better to not keep her alone. Even if it's with him. " Thank you. " I said. " You don't have to thank me. She is my friend. " He said. " Yes. She is your FRIEND and MY girlfriend. " I reminded him. I didn't liked the way he looked at Winter. He probably likes her maybe even more than that. He nodded but didn't say anything. " You can go if you want to. I will take care of her. " I said. " Can you cook? " He asked. That's the thing I am not good at. So, I shook my head. " Then I'll come in the morning to make her some porridge. It's good for health. " He said and disappeared. I sighed and went to a spare room, and flopped on the bed. It was a long night or may I say dawn. We worked so hard on the cake and we didn't even get to wish Rose. Sighing, I closed my eyes and tried to sleep.

*Rose*

Gustin and my father came back but Winter was not with them. " Where is she? " I asked. My father ignored me and asked my mother to bring him water. " She was in the hospital. She fainted and someone took her to the hospital. She is fine now. Ashten went to her apartment, she is there. " Gustin answered. " Thank god. " I whispered. " Yes. Thank God. Because She could have been hurt and that too because of her best friend's carelessness. " My father snapped at me. I lowered my head. " How could you be so wreckless, Rose? I know you like that boy. You could have asked us before going, we would have given you permission. And then all this would not have happened. " My mother said. " I am sorry. " " You are grounded. You can not go outside, you can not bake, and you certainly can not meet with that boy until I say so. Now, Got to your room. " My father said. I nodded and ran to my room. I deserve this. I should have asked my parents, they surely would have allowed me. My mom would have at least.

*Gustin*

" Thank you, Gustin. For searching with Ashten and I. " Rose's father said. " You don't have to thank me, Uncle. Winter is my friend, too. " I said. " Yes. Yes. And you are better friend than my daughter. " He said. " Rose is a great friend, Uncle. She just made a mistake. We all do mistakes. " I said, shrugging. " Which could have hurt Winter badly. " " But it didn't. " I said. I know I shouldn't argue with the man, he is probably right. But Rose is a good friend. I know she is. She just made a mistake by not telling her parents or even Winter. " I should be going now, Uncle. Have a good night. " I said, and was going to turn when Aunt Annie called my name and bring the desserts that I was supposed to forget about. " Here is your dessert and flower. Rose told me that these are for your friend. " She said. " That friend is Rose. I brought it for her. " I said the truth. " Really? How sweet of you. But why did she say that it is for your friend? " She asked. " Because I lied to her to surprise her. " I shrugged like it wasn't a big deal. But it was. " Thank you. " I nodded and left their house.

*Winter*

I woke up and I had a headache. I slowly slipped out of my bed and searched for medicine. Nothing was in my room. So, I went back to my bed and flopped on it. It felt like someone was hammering my head. Ashten walked in my room after knocking. " I need an aspirin. " I said, groaning. He rushed downstairs to get me some aspirin and water. After taking the medicine, I lied down and tried to sleep again.

I woke up again a few hours later. It was already lunch time. I brushed my teeth and did all the work to freshen up. And I walked downstairs to be met by Emerson and Ashten. " Hello, Guys. " I greeted them. " Is your headache gone? " Ashten asked. " Yeah. I am feeling much better now. " I smiled. " Your lunch is ready. " Emerson said. " Thank you. " I said and started eating the chicken soup, mashed potatoes, and corn.

I went to the doctor with Ashten to do a full checkup. I got out of the clinic with a report that practically said, I need to eat a lot of sugar and always keep it with me. Low dosage of sugar can cause me to faint, and even seizures. Ashten immediately bought lots of candies and sweets for me to eat after getting out of the clinic. It's kind of good, I get to eat lots of candies and sweets, now. Huh.

We went home together and video called Rose. She picked up and kept apologizing to me and Ashten, especially me continuously. As it seems She was grounded for she didn't know how long. I shouldn't have run. Rose has to stay grounded just because I fainted. It's not her fault. Yes. I am slightly mad at her that she ruined the surprise. But she deserves to be happy, if she liked to spend the day with her boyfriend, it's okay with me. She didn't deserve to be grounded. I have to call Uncle Gerald and tell him. And I did. After I hung up with Rose, I called Uncle. He was relieved to hear my voice. I told him that it isn't Rose's fault. But he didn't agree with me. Guess I can not save Rose. But soon I will. Now, time to eat some more chocolate. Grinning, I opened a chocolate truffle. Mmmm. This is delicious.

*Emerson*

At night, I was called to meet with Gustin and Ashten. It seems that Gustin is onto something. Better than me. I have found nothing. And I mean absolutely nothing. So, I went to meet with them.

I was leaned on the wall and those two were sitting on the couch. " When I was coming out of the flower shop, I saw flashes of light, and I hid behind the wall. I saw two damned souls. A girl and a boy. And the girl knows your name. " Gustin said. " Everyone knows my name. I am The King's best friend. And I go on a lot of mission. I have won lots, too. " I said, shrugging. " Fine. So, The girl said to the same damned soul who told me to run away, that now, you are searching for him. And she was kind of scolding him. She also said that she will not pity him when you will tear him apart. " " Oh, Yes I will. " I said, with a feline smile. " You can kill a damned soul? " Ashten asked. " Yes. Well, technically, you can obliterate a damned soul. That means he wouldn't exist. But only some has those powers. Only the King's army has the powers to do that. " " King's army? " Gustin raised his brow. " Yes. Jacob is a King. And every King has an army. We are souls that doesn't mean that we don't face problems. We face bigger problems than humans. " I said, slightly annoyed. Humans do think that after you die, everything is finished. But it is not. After you die, there is evil, good and in between. There is a good spirit realm, evil spirit realm and damned soul's realm to keep the souls in their particular places. Jacob isn't from anywhere. He was made to rule an entire different realm. And Surupture, too. But Jacob had to imprison him because he turned evil. " Don't get annoyed, Dude. We don't know everything about you. " Gustin said. " I think you should go and check there first. We will go with you, too. " Ashten said. " No. No way. Jacob gave me this mission. I don't want involve humans in this mission. " I said. " We can't just sit here and do nothing. Now, that they are roaming everywhere, humans are in danger. " Gustin said. " I am sorry. But I cannot put you two in danger. " I said, and before they can argue some more, I vanished. I went straight to the alley, where Gustin saw them last. I hid there for a long time. No one came. Gustin saw them maybe around 11. So,I should wait a while. So, I waited.

Maybe, they won't be coming here tonight. Maybe they saw Gustin that night and changed their meeting area. And why would they meet here? Don't they have a secret place or something?

And then they appeared. A girl and a boy. Hey. I know them.
