Chapter 45

I slept through the night, and through the day. But at noon, I woke up to honking cars, and shouts like, "Out of my way." Groaning, I sat upright on my bed. I yawned and stretched. My wrist was aching a bit. But not that much. I opened the cloth that wrapped my wrist, and the palm. Rolling my wrist, I realized that I am totally fine. My wrist felt quite strong. I climbed down from the bed and went to the bathroom. When I looked a the mirror, I saw my glowing face. I patted my cheeks with widened eyes. I couldn't believe that my face had an ethereal glow. I hurriedly freshened up and went downstairs. I found everyone sitting together, and talking. Neil and Austin were back. But Grisha was nowhere to be found. I don't know how she looks but I didn't see any stranger's face. " Where is Grisha?" I voiced my question. Everyone's head turned towards me, and I heard a whole lot of gasps. Frowning, I asked," What?" I walked down the stairs with utter grace which I didn't know how I got. I wasn't even trying. " Your face!" Rose exclaimed. " It's glowing. I know." I completed the sentence for my best friend. "But why?" Emerson asked, coming closer to me. " I don't know." I replied. " Do you have any weapon which talks?" A strange girl, who wasn't solid said. She seemed like a dark mist. But I could see her face, and body clearly. She was all black. She was wearing all black too. Her worn-out black boots were rather looking strong. Her shoulder-length straight black hair, grey misty eyes, and the tattoos covering all her body made her look very pretty, and intimidating at the same time. " You're Grisha, Right?" I asked. The girl strolled towards me and offered me a hand. " Yes. Nice to meet you, Winter." She smiled. I shook her hand and returned the smile. "Come along." She said and pulled me to the couch. Ashten came out of the kitchen with Gustin. His eyes shot to mine. " You're awake." He said. " Yes." I smiled sweetly. "And you're glowing." He breathed. I nodded. "Yeah. Yeah. Now, tell me about your weapon." Grisha said. " I have a talking sword." I replied. " Talking sword. Hmm." Grisha hummed, tapping her chin with her forefinger. " Do you know anything about talking swords?" Emerson asked. " Not talking swords. There weren't much talking swords before." Grisha said. " But now there is?" Neil asked. "No. Now, there aren't any weapons that have their own minds. Many centuries ago, We fought against The Blade realm. The King of the Blade Realm tried to take over ours.My father got angry and destroyed them fully. So, they don't exist now. And all the weapons got destroyed that were made in that realm. Only the weapons from the blade realm had minds of their own. But I don't know how you got the weapon." Grisha said, pointing towards me. " Actually, I and my colleagues worked on these weapons for a while. It is supposed to kill damned souls as we humans can not touch them. But After we finished making the weapons, some markings appeared on them. We don't know how. But they just appeared." Ashten explained everything. Grisha hummed and was deeply in thought. " Can you show me your sword?" Grisha asked me. " Her wrist needs rest, so she can not hold a sword. I'll get it." Emerson said, and vanished. I don't know where my sword was but Emerson appeared very quickly with my sword. " Just touch it. And you'll be astonished, I tell ya." Emerson said, chuckling. Grisha took the sword very carefully in her hands, she eyed it for a while. She touched the markings slowly like if she touches them with harshness they'll disappear. " These are.... Marvelous." Grisha murmured. Great. Now, Even A great Leader is mesmerized with my sword. And they are telling me not to touch my sword, and not to train with it? Like hell, I'll listen to them. " What do the markings say?" Emerson asked, eagerly, closing the distance between them so that he can hear more clearly. " It's strange. It's not the language that was used in the blade ream. I can not understand it." Grisha's brows creased, and then she sniffed lightly. " Tell that shadow girl not to sniff me, Winter." Ciara said. " Umm. The sword doesn't like you sniffing her, Grisha." I said, very cautiously. Grisha's eyes met mine with pure curiosity. There was something in her eyes that I couldn't read, and then she gave the sword to Emerson. "It's humming something, Didn't you listen?" Emerson asked, taking the sword. " Yes. I did. It is the sword's energy. This sword is really powerful. Winter, Be careful with it. I don't know from where this sword came. Ashten made it but the markings are from a different world. When Neil told me about it, I thought that it would be a sword from the blade realm. But now, I am sure that it is something else. " Grisha said to me. " Okay. Can I train with it?" I asked."Of course. The sword chose you. It won't hurt you." Grisha said, smiling softly. " You're wrong. It did hurt her." Ashten said, coming close to me. " The wrist, You mean? Well, neither Winter is familiar with the sword, nor the sword is familiar with Winter. So, there would be some mishaps between them. But after they get synced with each other, nothing, and no one can stop them. So, Winter, Train with this. Have you given it a name?" Grisha asked, expectantly. " I didn't have to give it a name. It already has one. And it is a she. Her name is Ciara." I smiled warmly, looking at the sword. I felt Grisha's eyes on me. " You are already attached with the sword." Grisha muttered. " I like her. She is sassy." I chuckled under my breath. " Oh, Ramos. And she has a nice name. Take care of her. Though I haven't heard of any weapon having a name I am really glad that you have this incredible sword with you." She said to me. Then, she turned to others, and said, "No matter what, don't separate them. Winter is safe with her sword." " No. I can not agree with that. The sword will get separated from Winter if it doesn't behave nicely." Ashten grumbled. I felt my sword whimpering, so I got to my defensive mode. " No. It will stay with me." I snapped at Ashten. Then, I covered my mouth with my hand. What did I do? I just... I just shouted at Ashten. I never do that. " It's okay, Winter. You are just protective of the sword. Whenever you will feel that your sword is uncomfortable or sad, you'll go for its rescue. And whenever the sword feels you in pain, it will come to you. At least, The weapons of The Blade realm did that. I am sure this weapon is not from there but it certainly acts like them. Almost acts like them." Grisha said, putting her hands in her pockets. " If the sword won't hurt her. Then why did it hurt her wrist?" Rose asked, coming forward. " I am sure it didn't mean to. " Grisha answered my best friend. "I didn't mean to, Winter. I just.. I don't know what I did. I healed you, didn't I? Won't you forgive me?" Ciara asked me, her voice so smooth it felt like silk on my skin. The tingles left me dumbfounded. " You healed me?" I asked frowning at my sword. I felt the sword confirming it. " Ciara healed me." I informed everyone. " Now that's something The weapons of the Blade realm never did. They didn't have these abilities." Grisha informed us, looking more curiously at the sword. " See, Ash. Ciara healed me. That means you don't need to separate us." I grinned at Ashten, who sighed, his shoulders relaxing a bit. " Maybe that's why she is glowing. Because the weapon healed her." Aaron suggested. "That's ridiculous." Austin muttered. " No. Maybe he is right. Many centuries ago some healers had special powers. The healers were of many types. Some healers had powers to make the person who is to be healed, glow." Emerson said. " Um, That's why I asked her about the talking sword at first." Grisha murmured, rubbing her palms together but no one listened to her. " But she is just a sword. Not a healer." Gustin said, stepping closer to us." We don't know what is she." Neil answered for Emerson, who nodded in agreement. " Maybe she is a transformer, who transforms into a sword, and a robot." I suggested, which led to everyone's head turning towards me. I just shrugged. " What's a transformer?" Luthanion asked. "Don't you upgrade yourself? Transformers are cars which are also robots." Austin explained to Luthanion. " Where are they, now?" Luthanion asked, pushing off of the wall in a hurry. "Relax, Luth. They are just in movies." Rose said, snorting. I gaped at the duo. More at Rose, actually. " Yeah. They are friends now." Ashten whispered to me. "How? I mean she told me that he has humor but I didn't know that they have become this close," I whispered back. " Well, it turns out, Rose is the only one who can tame him. Yeah, Rose also said to me that he has humor. I don't know where she got that stupid idea from. And He likes her. And I tell you, Gustin isn't happy about it." Ashten said, crossing his arms over his chest. I looked at Gustin, and yes indeed, He was fuming. Poor child. First, Isaac, and now Luthanion. My eyes traveled from them to Grisha, who was already looking at me. With something, I couldn't decipher. She was really difficult to understand. She tilted her head and was in deep thought. " What?" I asked. My question turned everyone's attention to me. " You are different. I just don't know how." Grisha murmured, but everyone heard her this time. " Ciara told me the same." I answered. " The sword knows things? Wow. I wish I had that one." Grisha said, straightening up a bit. " Oh. Rose was worried about you. Did The Kingmas hurt you, Grisha?" I asked, softly. " No. He doesn't know anything. Yet." She replied, her clenched jaw twitched. " How did you take her here?" I asked Neil. " She was training with her troop. I told her about the situation, and she left everything and came with us." Neil shrugged." And what about your people?" I asked Grisha, who was biting her nails. Are they solid enough to bite? " They are safe. I have covered them with a protective shield. And they will come when I call them." She answered. " So, How do we kill shadows?" I asked. I don't like when I don't know something while others know everything. " We can not kill shadows. We have to capture them." Emerson answered me instead. "And that means I have to work with my workers, again. To build the traps." Ashten said to me, brushing my shoulder with his hand. " Yes. And My people, and I will help them. But we do need some Damned souls, too. More creatures, more fast the work will be done. So, call all the help. We will need them. And while the traps are being readied, I need all of you to train. I will come for a while every day to show you how to capture the shadows." Grisha said, crossing her hands behind her and raising her chin. I looked at Emerson, who was nodding. Usually, Emerson is the one leading but it doesn't bother him that Grisha has taken over. These creatures are better than humans. " Come on. Start to train as fast as you can. And Ashten, Let's go." Grisha shouted like a true commander she is. Ashten nodded. He turned to me and kissed my forehead gently."Be safe. And train hard but not too hard. And don't tire yourself. Be careful with the sword, too." Ashten kept on rambling. So, I kissed him hard. " Gross. Get a room, Guys." Gustin rumbled. Isaac chuckled under his breath. Ashten held me tightly and kissed me back. I heard all the footsteps retreating. Yeah. We grossed them out. I smiled and continued kissing him.
