Chapter 44

2040 Words
" To what? " Isaac frowned and stepped closer to his brother. Trevor's red eyes looked at his brother with regret. " I am bound not to tell anyone about it. But it's something worse than even Rose's condition. " Trevor said. " I am sorry. " He added. " Why didn't you agree? You agreed to that Kingmas when he asked you to give my soul to him. " Isaac said, stepping more closer to his brother. " And I regret it. I was so immersed in those things. I had changed into a full demon. But seeing Winter, and her friends trying so hard to find Rose, and you telling me that I was your everything changed something in me. I remember every time you tried to protect me from our father. And every time you faced his rage which was supposed to kill me long ago. And I was also hurt when you didn't care if I died or not. I realized that I hurt you so much. I am sorry, Brother. " Trevor's voice was strangled a bit. His words were clear, though. His message was clear. Isaac's hands shook at his sides. His forehead had beads of sweat. And his eyes were concentrated on Trevor. It looked like he was searching for something in his brother's eyes. But after a while, something flashed in his eyes, and he shook his head slightly. I caught Trevor sulking. He was already giving up. " I can't forgive you. You hurt Rose. It's impossible for me to forgive you. But you fighting with us, it is a decision for others to take. And you have to promise me that you are with us and not spying on us because Kingmas ordered you. " Isaac said, gripping his left hand with his right. Trevor only nodded. Isaac backed away and looked at Emerson, who gave him a slight nod and walked to Trevor. " Stop sulking. Fight with us, and we all will forgive you. At least some of us will accept you as good, and won't try to kill you. " Emerson warmed his hand in his pocket. " You can't kill us. " Trevor said. " See. That is why we don't trust you. You asked this question and proved that we can not trust you. Pathetic. Get lost, Demon. " Emerson spat and turned his back on him. " Wait. I didn't mean to offend you. I just thought we can't be killed. But if I need to prove to you that I am really against the Kingmas, then tell me what I need to do. " Trevor begged, walking closer to us. Ashten held me tighter. " We'll come up with something. Until then, you aren't allowed to come here. " Emerson said, over his shoulder, and walked towards our group. " Fine. Just don't be late. Because the war between damned souls, and humans will be soon. " Trevor said. " Won't demons be there? " Austin asked. " Demons, and shadows. So, be fast. And do whatever you want to do. " Trevor said and vanished with his two friends.     " How are we gonna kill shadows? " Aaron asked, coming closer to Emerson. " We need to talk to Grisha," Emerson said. " I don't think that is a good idea. She has already helped us before. What if Kingmas gets to know about her? " Rose asked, her lips turned downward. " Then, let's bring her here. And her people. " Emerson said. " I'll go. " Neil stood from the chair. " And I will go. " Austin raised his hand. " Fine. But be careful. " Emerson warned. " We will. " They said in unison and vanished. " Don't worry. Grisha will come here safely. " I said to Rose, hugging her a bit. " I just wish for her to be safe. " Rose murmured. " She is. " I assured her.   " Come on. We need to start practicing. " Emerson urged us to practice. " But we need a space. " Rose said. " My apartment has lots of space to practice. " Ashten said. " Huh. I never went there. " Rose huffed. " You will now. " Ashten grinned. " Let's go. " Emerson called. We walked to our cars to drive to Ashten's house with the weapons. And the damned souls vanished so that they could fly or do whatever they do, to reach Ashten's house.     I took the sword gently, and the dagger. Then, I went with others to the training room in Ashten's apartment. Emerson ordered us all to take our places and start to train. Emerson and I took a corner and started training.   " You need to get accustomed to the sword. Do you know how to fight with it? " Emerson asked. I shook my head. Emerson took a sword and came beside me. " Your grip shouldn't be too tight. and it also shouldn't be too loose. " He showed me how to hold the sword. " Good. Now, Take your stance. " Emerson said and showed me how to stand with the sword. To be ready to fight. " Your legs should be firm on the ground. But they shouldn't be glued to it. You should be alert all the time. " He said, raising his hand with the sword to his side. I raised mine too. " Good. " He said and stood taller. Emerson showed me two steps. How to s***h someone from the front. Just one swipe. And then he showed me how to spin, and s***h. " Now practice it for one hour. Until you master it. " Emerson said and sat on a chair. I gaped at the damned soul who is just ordering everyone around and doing nothing by himself. " And what are you going to do? " I asked. " Watch. " He smiled. " Watch what? " " You. " Emerson grinned. I narrowed my eyes but turned, and started to train with my sword. " He's handsome you know. " My sword told me. " Shut up. I need to practice. " I snapped at the sword. Then, it suddenly felt heavy. On my hands. " No. " I said, and the sword felt so heavy that my hand bent, and the sword fell on the ground. Emerson ran towards me. " Are you okay? " He asked. I screamed in pain. Everyone ran towards me and started fussing over me, and my hand. I held my hand tightly, and tears started to pool in my eyes. Someone picked me up from the floor, and I also heard Rose. " Is she going to be alright? " She asked. But then my eyes closed, and I lost all my senses.     I woke up in a dark room. Only a small ray of light was pouring through the small open space in the door. Is it evening already? I sat up, groaning. My hand was aching badly. " How are you feeling? " I snapped my head towards the direction from where the voice came. " My hand is aching. " I said to Emerson. He was glowing in blue light. Emerson strolled to my bed and sat close to me. " It hurts me every time, when I can't do something for you when you are hurt. I am sorry. "Emerson's voice cracked a bit. " It's okay. I know you can't touch me. Else you would have. " I said, closing in on him. " I would have. I want to. So much. " Emerson closed the small gap and looked directly at my eyes. " Your eyes are looking like stars are swimming in those. " I said, smiling. " And your eyes seem like fire and snow. " Emerson said, smiling. He raised his hand. I didn't flinch but I looked at his hand as it slid slightly over my hair. It didn't touch my hair but just hovered over my hair. " And your hair seems like waves. Wild waves of Ocean of Grey. " Emerson said. His voice was so soft. So smooth. " What is Ocean of Grey? " I asked, tilting my head to the right. " It is The Ocean where God Apocliff used to live. " Emerson said, moving his hands on his lap. " Who is that? I read about gods. Greek Gods, too. But I never read about Apocliff. " I said. " Because something happened and then he decided he doesn't want to show himself to anyone. " Emerson shrugged. " He was God? Real God? Of What? " I asked. " He wasn't God like that. But humans and other creatures looked up to him. He had powers. Strange powers. I don't know everything about him. I died really early. " Emerson said, smiling tightly. I nodded. Then his eyes shifted to my hand, and it held so much pain. " Your hand. You screamed so loud. Did the sword do anything to you? " Emerson asked, his face showed concern. " Yes. I think so. I snapped at the sword, and it turned so heavy that I couldn't hold on to it. Then My hand bent. " I said. " I should have taken the sword away from you. It is different. We should know everything about the sword, then give you the sword to train with. " Emerson said. " It is not your fault. The sword is new to me. She needs to get accustomed to me. She needs to get attached to me. " I tried to explain. " Does that mean that you will still train with the sword? " Emerson asked. " Yes. I will. I need to tame it. " I said. " But you need to rest. Your hand needs to get healed. " Emerson said. I nodded. He was looking into my eyes. It went so deep within me, and his gaze touched my heart, which quickened my heartbeat. I inhaled sharply and looked at his blue eyes which were twinkling. His eyes fell on my lips, and it ran down to my collarbone, then to my hands, and his eyes looked pained again. He gulped, then his eyes traveled back to my eyes. " Winter? " Ashten walked in, and Emerson vanished as fast as he could. I smiled at him. " How are you feeling?" He asked after switching on the light. " I am fine. " I kept smiling. He sat beside me and brushed my hair. " I am so sorry, Winter. " He whispered. " What for? " I asked. " I should have been careful with the weapons. I know the sword did this to you. I should have been careful. " Ashten kept saying, shaking his head, looking at the floor. " Ashten, Look at me. " I said. He shook his head. " Look at me, Ash. " I whispered, brushing his hair. He slowly looked up at me. " I am fine. I just need to rest. And then I'll be alright. It's no one's fault. " I smiled slightly. Ashten looked at me with his sad eyes. I closed the distance and touched his forehead with mine. " Everything is alright. " I whispered. He nodded slowly. " Where is my sword? " I asked. " I intend to throw it. " Ashten replied. " No. I need to train with it. I don't know why. But I feel a strong connection with it. " I said, backing away. " But Winter. " I shook my head. "I need that sword, Ash. " I pressed. Ashten sighed and looked at me. " Promise me you will be careful. Because the next time this sword hurts you even a little bit. I will destroy it. " Ashten said. I nodded. " Done. " I said. Ashten kissed my forehead. " Come on. You should rest. Lay down. " He murmured. I laid on the bed. I didn't know when I fell asleep. But I did feel someone watching me all night. Caressing my face.
