I open my eyes, blinking until I am seeing light in the dark.
I am standing on a beach, the ocean reflecting an aisle of red light coming from the eclipse above. When I step into the water, bioluminescent light explodes around my feet. It looks like the beach where I scattered Mom’s ashes.
I look to my right and see Alex sitting by the shore, staring at the sky where the Moon and the Sun are one. When I blink, he is gone.
I walk and walk, creating a trail of blue light on the water’s edge. But no matter how far I went, I kept returning to where I started. It felt like a place for dreams.
“Brother!” I hear Alex call. I turn around and finally see him, wearing a big smile on his face.
I run to him, tackling him to the ground. “Where have you been, you little s**t?”
