ZANDER I open my eyes, blinking until I am seeing light in the dark. I am standing on a beach, the ocean reflecting an aisle of red light coming from the eclipse above. When I step into the water, bioluminescent light explodes around my feet. It looks like the beach where I scattered Mom’s ashes. I look to my right and see Alex sitting by the shore, staring at the sky where the Moon and the Sun are one. When I blink, he is gone.
