Amethyst
"Hey Amethyst. You're turning 18 next week right? Are we invited?" Janna asked, almost shouting so others would hear.
"Yeah, and let Yuan rock your world." Trixie added.
They knew my birthday because, as far as I can remember, my grandma invited them on my 10th birthday. The theme back then was Pikachu, I was obsessed with Pikachu. Because grandma made a real effort, she dressed me up in a Pikachu costume. They teased me, and they all left because it was "weird." But Pikachu is cute, right?
I'm here now in the cafeteria, having an early lunch. It's been weeks since I met Flynn's parents. It was fun, and I don't know why Flynn hasn't asked me about my parents yet. But it's okay that he hasn't asked; I don't have an answer anyway. It's also been weeks since I last saw Flynn. I kind of miss him. He's been so busy, and I don't want to bother him. I'm busy too; I haven't even written my speech. Mr. Taylor told me to prepare my speech because I know I'm going to be the valedictorian.
"I heard my name. Are you going to invite me as your escort?" Yuan asked, taking a seat beside me. "But please, not Pikachu," he added with a laugh.
I just rolled my eyes and stood up. "You're leaving already?" he asked, trying to stop me.
I ignored him and left my seat, but he suddenly grabbed my arm, making me turn back to him. "Why don't we have some fun later?" he whispered, pulling me forcefully.
He wrapped his arms around my waist to prevent me from leaving. I could hear whispers from other students, and some even took pictures. I tried to break free, but he tightened his grip. "I'll post this on social media on your birthday," he smirked, leaning closer.
"Ouch!!" Yuan exclaimed as someone suddenly pulled me away from him.
"Don't you dare touch my princess. Peasant!" Flynn's angry voice rang out as he stood next to me, grabbing Yuan's index finger and twisting it.
He looked at me and asked, "Is this guy harassing you?" his question filled with anger.
I just shook my head, feeling embarrassed. Everyone was staring at us.
He let go of Yuan's hand, and Yuan winced in pain. "Who are you?" Yuan shouted.
"Yuan, shut it," Janna scolded him. "Aren't you Flynn Grande?" she asked seductively. "I'm Janna Clarkson, the assistant principal's daughter."
Flynn didn't let her finish. "I don't care who you are," Flynn said firmly. "I want all of you to remember this day. If you mess with Amethyst, you're messing with me!" he shouted, making the students furrow their brows. "Now, delete all those pictures, or I'll ban you from entering any colleges," he warned, his voice filled with seriousness.
"What are you doing here?" I whispered to him.
"Visiting you. I just missed you," he whispered back into my ear. He put his arm around my waist and took my bag. "Let's go, princess. Let's leave this place," he said.
I didn't know where he was taking me, but he said we had somewhere to go. We arrived at an expensive restaurant. As we walked in, the waiter greeted us and showed us to a reserved table where Nathaniel and Mr. Harles were already seated.
I looked at Flynn, "What's going on?" I asked. When we reached Nathaniel and Mr. Harles, he pulled out the chair for me to sit. Hmm, a gentleman.
"The three of us just want to get to know you better," he replied and sat next to me.
"Nothing special about me. It's just me," I replied.
"Hey, don't say that. You are more special to me," Flynn said, smiling at me.
This guy never fails to make me feel giddy. We ordered our food, and they started asking me questions. I answered them plainly and honestly. "I turned 15 when my grandmother passed away. I don't know who my parents are, but according to my grandma, my mom was a prostitute. My dad took care of me. My dad left all his savings to my grandma, and I'm lucky to have a good grandma because she never touched my dad's savings. She used it to buy the house I live in now. My grandma also left some savings for me. That's why I wasn't placed in an orphanage. My grandma taught me how to be independent," I answered their questions and started eating. I saw them exchanging looks, and I could sense their empathy. "Don't feel sorry for me. I've accepted the kind of life I have," I told them, looking at each of them.
"But you're only 17," Geo said softly.
"You're supposed to be enjoying your teenage life," Nate added.
I just shrugged. "No choice," and continued eating. "How about you three? What's your story?" I asked them, taking a sip of my blueberry smoothie.
"We've been friends since forever. Geo is a family friend, and we just had fun. Nothing interesting," Flynn replied, looking at me.
"No girlfriends?" I asked again, and they smiled and looked down.
"Well, if you ask me, I have so many of them," Nate said with a laugh. He's a playboy. "I don't take things seriously because, just like you, I know they'll treat me like a sugar daddy," he said, laughing.
I glanced at Geo. "I have none," he replied simply and took another sip of his drink.
"This guy got his heart broken when we were in high school," Nate said, laughing. Geo gave Nate a playful glare. He's the introvert one.
"He never fell in love again; he was depressed," Flynn said, looking at me.
"What about you?" I asked him.
"Interested?" he flirted with me. This guy is really something.
I rested both my elbows on the table and propped my face up with my hands. I looked at him with a smile. "Of course, you're my boyfriend right?" I asked him in a seductive voice.
He smirked because he knew exactly what I was doing. He mimicked me, facing me directly. "I was also in love, but I rejected her. She wasn't good for me," he replied simply.
This man's face is stunning. He has such smooth skin, and it's no wonder why girls are after him.
"Ahem," I heard Nate and Geo cough to get our attention.
Gosh, I forgot they were here. "Hey Amethyst, is it okay with you that we suddenly came into your life? I mean, you know," Nate asked, leaning back in his chair.
"It's fine," I just replied.
I do believe that people come and people go. That's why I'm trying to be insensitive because I don't want to get attached to someone. The people I loved left me, and I just want to get used to the fact that they'll leave eventually.
As we finished, Flynn said he would take me to the mart, so I didn't refuse. When we were in front of the mart and I was about to leave, he stopped me. "No kiss goodbye, love?" he asked with a grin.
I approached him and quickly kissed him on the lips. "Bye," I said to him and went down.
I don't know why I'm following his orders. It's like I enjoy what I'm doing. Maybe I'm just embracing the role of being a girlfriend. Or maybe I'm just realizing it, he's really good to be with. I mean, not that good, but I think he's nice.
After a few days, Flynn always picks me up and drops me off at the mart. It's good that he doesn't stop me from working at the mart and Sundown Bar. He's not busy because the construction of the house is already finished.
I'm on my way home now, I'm just walking because it's nearby. I'm walking quietly so I felt someone following me. I looked around, but I got scared so I called Flynn. Yeah, Flynn immediately came to mind, but he wasn't answering. I tried calling him again, but someone suddenly covered my eyes.
"Ah---" I couldn't shout because my mouth was covered, and my eyes slowly closed.
..
I don't know how many minutes I was unconscious. But here I am now, lying on a soft sofa. I have no cover, not even a rope. I slowly opened my eyes. The room is dark, except for the moonlight coming through the window. This place seems familiar to me. I felt dizzy as I tried to get up, and soon enough, I was surprised when the light came on and I heard three guys singing from behind.
"Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday Amethyst," I smiled as they approached me.
These guys are something, I don't know why they're doing this, but I am so blessed to have met them. I did not expect that they would treat me like a princess.
"Surprise," Flynn said with a grin as he brought out a purple cake. And at this moment, I think I'm falling for him.
