"Honey, please understand. You're not just--"
"--Not just good like her for you to be proud of me? I get it, you don't have to explain it any further. Thanks for listening anyway... Mom."
"Clara, if you would just let me finish..." She said, her audacity to tell me that when its crystal clear she's telling me I'm not good enough! "I know you're expecting something else, mom. It's alright. I understand I just don't match your standards." I walked away and headed to my room. I just can't believe this. I thought she would be proud of me and I guess I should't've expected something from her.
"Not good enough, huh? Then I'll prove you wrong. One day you'll realise that I never needed your support." "You never gave any, anyway." I sighed and lay down on my bed, thinking about what could go wrong tomorrow on my first day at work. I can't believe I'm working with famous people! Its overwhelming! "Get it together Clara..."
"Ms. Clara! You're early, that's good. Follow me, I'll show you around. And oh... You might want to take that coat, it doesn't go with the dress code."
Dress code? What is wrong with my coat?
We headed to a room full of famous models, designers, producers and photographers and everyone looked at me as if I was doing something sinful!
"What is that kind of fashion?! It's burning my eyes!" I see now what he meant... These fashionistas don't know much about fashion. Are these professionals or just acting like a professional? "It's so old school! You did not get that from a dumpster, didn't you?!" That was so insulting! What kind of behavior is that?!
"Ma'am who ever you are, that was so insulting. What's so wrong with my coat? What would you do if I got it from a dumpster then?"
"Oh, how rude! People like you should not be in this company at all! Who accepted this pest?" She's so dramatic.. No wonder her style looks like she just got out of a theater.
"Do we have a problem here?" a man said in his deep voice. Is there another dramatic person coming in? "Clarence, is there something wrong with the set? Why is Ms. Matilda being emotional here?"
Emotional? More like dramatic, and her name Matilda? Yeah, it suits her attitude anyway...
"No sir, there is nothing wrong, its just Ms. Matilda has a little problem with Ms. Clara's coat..." "She said that it does not cope with the dress code."
"I didn't know we had a dress code? Ms. Matilda, if you wouldn't mind, come with me outside. Let's talk about this privately." "Is Ms. Clara a newbie, Clarence?" The man asked. I looked at them blankly ad=nd saw Clarence nodding to him. He walked up to me and leaned. "You're lucky today... Newbie, next time I won't think twice about firing you immediately." He left.
"How could he? Who does he think he is?!"
"Ms. Clara... I'm afraid that's the CEO of the company." I get it now... That's why he has that arrogant audacity. Well, I wouldn't think twice about leaving either! Or I wish I could do that easily.
"Clarence, Are people here self-absorbed? Like most of the time, I mean some still have kindness in their heart, right?" I asked sarcastically.
"You should watch what you're going to say next time. Let's say they do have the attitude, but be careful. They can step on you anytime." "Most of them are mannerless... Some can end you within a second... So be careful you don't know who you're dealing with at this place, Clara"
