"Miss Nidhi Menon!!! IN MY CABIN RIGHT NOW !!"
She sprinted from her seat and quickly dashed to the door, excited to get the detention. She indeed was something unique to gain such an achievement on the very first day of her college and she would surely tell her kids, the stories of how their mother got into detention on her first day of College.
Okay, Screw it. I don't think I will ever have a Marriage or Kids for that matter. Let's not jump to conclusions.!!
She quickly reached the Dean's cabin and barged in, startling the lady who was peacefully drinking tea, and her spilling the rest of her tea over her clothes.
"I'm really sorry, didn't meant to barge in like that. I was called by the Dean and so that's why I'm here.!!" She explained, as she quickly grabbed some tissues and made an attempt to clean the mess over her clothes for her, but instead of cleaning the stain, it was spreading more. The Lady politely told Nidhi to let it be and she got up and moved towards the washroom.
Exactly at the same time, the Dean entered, his face was red with anger, but somehow cooled down a bit, his demeanor changing and so, buttoning up his blazer, he took a seat in front of her, scrutinizing her face with his hard glare.
"Miss Nidhi Menon, let's just cut the chase and talk about what just happened there. Let's talk about your detention..."
--------
Seriously??
Cleaning the library bookshelves is what they call detention?? She was seriously disappointed as she moved to the next shelf and lazily moved her arm over the books, too bored already with all the 'cleaning' she did. Note the sarcasm!
She felt anger seep through her veins, as she was getting detention, not for something she did, but instead, she was getting detention for someone else's deeds. And it angered her because she was not the person who did the deed, someone else had snatched the opportunity already and she felt like a fool for not doing the deed before that person. Indeed it was depressing that she was getting DETENTION in place of that person.
But wasn't this what she wanted? True it was, but she hated that she was getting detention for something which she's not even guilty, and for someone who didn't get caught for his prank.
She Sighed. Nothing can be done now, one way or the other, she was going to face detention, so why not face it? But this 'cleaning the bookshelves' was the lamest of all. All the books were arranged properly and there was absolutely no fickle of dust present. Basically the books were used very much, she assumed. The College was seriously a great place to study in, just they had got one wrong person taken admission here.
The Machine in her pocket vibrated and then suddenly she heard a very loud ringtone, and she jumped in her place as she quickly fished out her phone out of her pocket and fiddled with it to make the loud noise stop, somehow. The Librarian came running towards her and advised her to maintain silence as some students were studying and they were getting disturbed because of the loud blazing noise of her phone's ringtone.
Nidhi had no option as the loud noise was starting to give her a headache, so she did the one thing that came in her mind and she chucked her phone hard on the ground. The phone crashed on the ground and the loud ringing of the phone stopped, this bringing some relief to her ears.
"This is a Library for God's sake!! Don't you know you should maintain silence here??" , The librarian growled as she adjusted get specs on her fat nose and scrunched her eyebrows in a mock threatening manner.
As expected. All the ladies whoever were appointed as librarians were always overconfident about themselves that they looked 'dangerous' whenever they kept their hands on their waist and glare in a threatening manner. Poor thing, they don't know they look completely weird and funny.
The same was the case with Nidhi. She was trying hard to resist herself from eye-rolling which was about to happen, hadn't the Librarian not given up the pretense of 'glaring' at her. She quickly escaped the scene as if she had witnessed a ghost or something, leaving behind a very confused Nidhi. Shrugging her shoulders, she moved over to resume her work, only to notice something strange.
A timid boy was staring at her. She stopped and looked at the boy with raised eyebrows and repeating the stance that the librarian had. The Boy chuckled and smiled. She smiled back and offered him her hand. He looked unsure whether to shake hands or not, but did that anyway.
"Hiii, I guess you enjoyed the show back there??", she asked with a slight hint of annoyance in her voice. The Boy quickly panicked and hurriedly nodded his head in negation. She felt weird but smiled again. Somehow this guy unknowingly had the ability to make people smile, without even making any efforts.
"I'm Nidhi Menon, a new admission. And you are??” she inquired. The boy smiled and lifting his right hand, he placed his index finger over his mouth and nodded in negation. Nidhi got the sign that he was mute and guilt quickly graced her face. The boy understood this and quickly gave his enchanting smile, silently telling her to not feel pity for him and smile instead.
She did and somewhere felt grateful for her life, that at least she has a mouth and she can speak. True that she has problems of her own, but they cannot be bigger than this boy's problems. And to also learn from this boy how to smile, even when you are facing tragedy.
Before she could ask the boy for his name, someone called him out with a 'Joy' and a girl with a different aura reflecting her persona. Nidhi had to block her view so that the deadly aura didn't blind out her vision. After some commotion, ask she could hear was silence, so she removed her hands and found the place deserted. She scratched her head in confusion as to what happened, but shrugged her shoulders and decided, it was better to set options for her situation. Either continue with the 'detention' or.. escape. The former option looked boring, but if she gets something interesting to do, then she'll continue. But the latter option was more attractive and luring. So she was stuck in a dilemma.
What to do??

Shivam dusted the last book from the lot and kept the book back on the shelf and sighed in annoyance.
That bloody Aryan!! No use of keeping such worthless jerk as his sidekick who himself can't understand what needs to be done with their targets. Just because of that pathetic excuse of a guy, he had to take this damn detention. This was the 10th time that he had to take the detention because of that i***t, and still, he was not getting the clue that Aryan was not the one to be trusted upon.
Ahhh he had grown to hate the old rust, what they possibly call as shelves and racks. They stank like rotten eggs, with a strong pungent smell always in the ambiance, making it impossible for a normal human being to even survive here. But now he had to be here, just because of that loser...
He sighed as his phone vibrated for the umpteenth time. Why can't she get the clue that he's not interested to talk right now? Nothing can cure his rotten mood right now. He just wanted to get it if here as soon as possible. Only if the remaining one hour passes by quickly.
He turned and looked at the pile of papers that needed to be rearranged in a file. He quickly fetched a file to arrange the papers and with loads of patience, rearranged them in the chronological order. After heaving a sigh of relief, he found the ladder and climbed the topmost ladder to keep the file properly.
But something always cranked the end of the ladder, and with a sudden movement, he felt himself floating around in the air and then landing straight over something soft, his nose pressed against a hard surface, and his lips embracing some hair kind of thing.
Wait...!! Hair??
He opened his eyes and looked at what exactly was the source of hair, only to find out that the hair belonged to a certain girl whose face was covered up with her own hair. But she quickly wiggled the hair and revealed herself. She was the same person who had dared to mess with him and now, he was here with his face pressed directly into the same girl's neck, his hands on either side of her and his upper body lying over hers, pretty tightly. As soon as she saw him, she tried to wiggle again and use the same technique in tackling him, but he knew better, so he quickly moved back and got up, sitting beside her.
"Mr. Shivam Khandelwal!! I don't think you are taking your detention seriously. I think there's something else which you need to do. Do I need to remind you of that??" Came the most annoying voice.
Both of them looked up, only to notice a tall figure glancing down at them, or to be more precise, glaring down at them. His gaze was more transfixed on Shivam than her. She moved her gaze to look at Shivam, who was equally glaring at the man.
She looked back at the tall man, whose gaze now had moved to her. "Who are you? And what do you think this place is that you are romancing here like that?" he roared.
His loud voice made her flinch slightly. Somehow, she was forced to remember about a strict jailor who had some kind of malice in his eyes whenever he talked to any kid. The same malice could be seen in this man's eyes. Somehow the situation was making her uneasy.
Shivam noticed her reaction and mentally gritted his teeth. He knew this man would never change. He had to take matters in his own hands before it's too late."I haven't dropped my standards to such a low level that I would romance this stupid girl. Why don't you mind your own Business Prof Abhay Suryanshi?"
"Do not talk to me like that Khandelwal!! You better keep your tongue in check before I make you remember the outcomes if you fail to do so!!" He roared yet again, but there was no effect it had on Shivam. He continued to glare in Prof Abhay's direction.
Nidhi stared at the scene in front of her with absolute awe. There was something about Shivam that she liked, but what it was, she had no idea. She moved her gaze to the Prof and gulped down the words she was about to blurt. She was confused as hell and wanted to clear it out but decided it was better to just leave than to bicker over some useless thoughts. So, casting one final glare in Shivam's direction, suddenly remembering the fall, quickly escaped the scene. He turned to look at the person whom he loathed the most.
"Don't you dare think that you have an upper hand over me just because we are related. I don't care who you are, I will never accept you. Never." He got up and stomped his feet away from the library without turning back.
Abhay Suryanshi, A professor who never left any chance to insult him and demotivate him in any way. Earlier he didn't mind and decided to ignore his disgusting existence, but couldn't do so for long. Not only he was a cruel teacher, but ironically he was his Step Father as well !!
