Clutching her nursing diploma, Chloe smiled as Bone drove her home from graduation.
"Where's Liam?" she asked, scanning the road ahead.
"Emergency surgery. He'll be there soon, though."
Her heart fluttered at the thought of him. The successful surgeon at New Orleans' premier hospital treated her like his world began and ended with her smile. As they pulled up to their riverside cottage, she froze. Liam stood in the doorway.
"Surprise," he called, arms open wide.
She fled to him, gasping at the decorations inside. Behind them, the elder and pack members gathered in the yard.
"Congratulations, Chloe!" they cheered.
Tears spilled down her cheeks as the elder caught her gaze with a knowing nod.
"Since everyone's here," she announced, "we're expecting. I'm pregnant."
