Chapter Five

Sterling’s POV

I hear machines, they are beeping. Please tell me I didn’t get captured; I was afraid to open my eyes. I feel sore all over, it feels like I’ve been beaten to death. The last thing I remember was someone picking me up and telling me it was going to be okay, and they called me their mate. My heart started to speed up, that smell flooded my nose again; cedar and lavender. I feel so safe smelling it.

“Son she will be okay, Dr. Sneed said she would be waking up soon.” A husky voice spoke. Dr. Sneed, that means Everleigh's dad. Safety washes over me knowing I haven’t been captured. I opened my eyes. It’s blurry. I blink a few times.

“Oh, Sterling honey, you’re awake! Thank you, Moon Goddess!” My mom’s voice sounded broken. I tried to sit up, but a warm hand slid into mine and squeezed it. It felt like my hand was burning, but in a good way, my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest.

“I’m right here baby girl.” The sexiest deep husky voice sounded like music to my ears. My cheeks blushed, my heart felt like it was a skipping beat. I turned my head away from my mom. I locked eyes with him, the most beautiful emerald, green eyes. It’s him, my heart stopped. I thought I was dreaming, there was no way. I pinched myself, he didn’t disappear. He c****d his head to the side looking puzzled.

“Everything okay?” he whispered to me. It sent chills down my body.

“Y-yeah, I’m okay”, I am a little shocked, is this a sick game?

“H-how can you be my mate?” I spoke weakly and raspy. There was purring in my head, it’s my wolf.

"MATE, THAT’S OUR MATE. YUMMY."

“What’s your name”,

“Hello Sterling, I am your wolf. My name is Sapphire, it is a pleasure to be paired with you.”

My nerves calm; it soothes my thoughts. I guess he really is my mate. “Hello Sapphire, I’m happy to be paired with you. I can’t wait to see what you look like.”

“You’re my mate baby girl.” He squeezed my hand. I just can’t believe it. I feel the mate bond. I know it’s real, I just felt like I was dreaming.

“I-I can’t believe it,” I whispered.

“Well, believe it because you are mine. My mate, my love, my life, and my future Luna.” Enzo smirked, saying those words. He leaned down and pressed his lips against my hand. I felt my hand erupt in a burning sensation.

“Sterling! Oh my, your awake! Thank you, Moon Goddess, I was so scared!” Rae ran, squeezing me into a tight hug. I groaned. It hurt so bad to hug her “Rae!” I perked up.

“That’s enough, Rae, you’re probably hurting her.” Dr. Sneed spoke while walking in the room.

“Sterling, how are you feeling?” He started to check my vitals.

“My throat hurts, I have a little bit of a headache, and I feel sore all over.” I whined.

“Well, you took a beating, you almost died. If your mate here didn’t bring you to me when he did, you would have died. Your heart stopped for 10 minutes.” He spoke. My eyes bulged out of my head. I couldn’t believe what I just heard. I almost died??

“Mom, when can we go home?” I said, at the weekend.

“You won’t be going home with your mom; you’ll be moving in with me, my love.” He sounded hurt.

“Oh”, I looked at him.

“Honey, you and Alpha Enzo will be living here in the house.” My mom spoke by standing and taking my hand.

“Are you okay? I’m so sorry if I scared or worried you mom. I didn’t me- “I choked up

“Stop it, it’s not your fault. I’m just happy that your alive and okay.” She squeezed my hand.

“Have you spoken with your wolf yet?” she sounded excited. I nodded my head yes.

“I just spoke with her a moment ago. Her name is Sapphire.” I answered my mom.

“Oh darling, that’s a beautiful name, I can’t wait to see what she looks like. I’m sure she will be just as beautiful as you” my mom spoke with tears in her eyes.

“Sterling, I tried my best to help you, there were just so many of them. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you.” Rae was crying while at the end of my bed.

“Rae, stop it. You and Shelby did great, I promise. It’s the rogue’s fault, I just wasn’t fast enough this time.” I reached for her hand. I saw Everleigh walk through the door. She smiled when she saw me.

“I’m so happy to see you.” She smirked while walking to sit next to Rae.

“I’m happy to see everyone. Now when the heck can I get out of the damn hospital?” I said, annoyed. They all started to laugh at me.

“Can we have a moment alone? So, can she and I speak?” Enzo cleared his throat. He sounded so husky, he looked like he had not slept. Everyone nodded their heads, my mom and Rae both hugged me gently. Everleigh stood there for a moment. She walked over to my side of the bed,

“Don’t ever scare me like that again.” She said, leaning down to hug me.

“No promises,” I said while I winked at her. I feel anxious being in a room alone with him. How long have I been in the hospital for? I turned to face him; he was already looking at me. I immediately began to blush. I felt the warmth in my cheeks.

“Enzo, how long have I been here?” I was afraid to hear his answer.

“You’ve been out for a week. I was so scared you weren’t going to make it.” He sat next to me on the bed and wrapped his arms around my waist. “I was afraid that you would die on me. I just found you. I can’t lose you. You are my life, Sterling; I can’t get enough of you.” He had tears in his eyes.

I just stared at him; I didn’t know what to say. How would he want a wolf like me? I’m just an Omega. I am surprised the Beta’s daughter Ariel isn’t his mate. “Are you sure you want me as your mate, Enzo? I’m just an omega. I’m not special, nothing about me is. I’m just an ordinary wolf.” I started to get choked up. I’m scared of hearing what he is going to see. I shut my eyes tight, he took a deep breath.

“Of course, I want you. I don’t care about your title. That sh*t means nothing to me, your what matters to me. Please don’t ever say that again.” He places his face on my neck and takes in my scent.

“I’m not good enough for you. I’m weak,” I started to feel the tears in my eyes.

He immediately pulls his head up from my neck and places it on my forehead. He puts both of his hands around my face and neck. I’ve felt like sparks that have ignited on my skin. It feels tender when it is touching me. I keep my eyes closed; I feel his breath on my face. His scent was making me weak. I felt dizzy from how it was consuming me.

“Open your eyes baby and look at me.” I did as he asked. His mesmerizing emerald eyes staring at me, looking into my eyes with so much love. I can’t look away, I feel like I’m in a transit, his eyes. His to tear up. “You are good enough for me. Please accept me. I want to be with you and only you.” He is begging. I can’t focus. My brain feels like a puddle, I just keep staring into his eyes. This is surreal, my crush is my mate. The soon to be Alpha is my mate. He saved my life.
