Chapter Sixteen

---Two weeks later---

Sterling’s POV

It has been two weeks since Everleigh and Ariel were killed for their crimes. Dr. Sneed is still on his leave from work. I do not blame him a single bit, she was the only family he had left. He does not leave his house much right now; we have been sending down the pack counselor twice a week at his request. Enzo and I went down to his house and got him food. He showered for the first time since the incident yesterday.

Over the last two weeks, Lacie and I have gotten close. I ended up pulling her into my office with Enzo and we both told her everything. She was surprised when she found out about me having Alpha blood, she wanted to bring Ariel back from the dead and kick her ass along with Everleigh. I handed over the planning for my mom’s memorial to Julie and Lacie. Every time I tried to work on it, I would break down or get pissed off. I try hard to remind myself that she had a reason to lie to me, but I find it harder some days than others. My mother’s service was beautiful. We had lilies everywhere and made floating candle lanterns later in the night. It hit me hard when they put her in and poured her askes into the fire, she always said if she died, she wanted her ashes to be burned. Dr. Sneed ended up coming to the service and apologized again. He did mingle a little and went back home. Rae spoke for me since I could not stop crying long enough to speak, she did such an amazing job, she was like a second daughter to my mom. Enzo and I shifted that night and went on a walk in our wolf form. I wished my mom could have seen my wolf. She would have loved her. We ended up putting a plaque for her in our memory hall. I tend to walk down from them from time to time just to look at them. I am currently sitting in my office with my eyes closed. I heard a knock on my door.

“Come in,” I yelled.

Enzo and his family walked in; Stark closed the door behind him. Enzo walked over to my side, I stood up and let him sit in my seat so I could sit on his lap. His mother and father sat on the two chairs in front of the desk. His sister walked over and grabbed one of the folding chairs from the closet and sat next to Julie.

“Sterling, we know these last two weeks have been hard for you. We are very proud of you for coming out of the room this week as well,” his father said while smiling at me.

“We want you to know that we would love it if you called us mom and dad. Please do not think that we are trying to replace them because we are not, we want you to call us mom and dad because you are our daughter-in-law. We love you very much and treat and think of you as our own.” Julie said to me.

“I have always wanted a sister. Not only did I get a sister, but I gained a best friend. I am so happy that you are a part of our lives.” Lacie replied while nodding in agreement with what her mother said.

I turned my head to look, and Enzo and he had a big smile on his face. I could tell that they were anxiously waiting for me to answer them.

“I would love it too; you guys have been nothing but great to me. Yes, my mother is now dead, and my father is trying to kill me, but, I have gained a loving family during all of this. You have all shown me unconditional love and have been so supportive. You all stepped up for me when I couldn’t bring myself to do so. You are all my family now,” I said. I could feel the tears forming in my eyes.

I stood up knowing that they were getting ready to come over and hug me. I walked over to the side of the desk, Julie and Lacie pulled me into a group hug. I can hear Enzo and Stark laughing in the background,

“We love you very much.” I heard Julie whisper in my ear,

“I love you guys too.” I whispered the words out. I pulled back and walked over to Stark. He pulled me into a hug.

“I’m glad to call you my daughter, you can always call me dad.” I heard his voice break. I pulled back just enough to see that he had tears in his eyes.

“Thanks dad.” I whispered. It felt weird at first because I have never had anyone to call dad. It would take a little bit to get you used to it too.

“When does Colton get back from his birthday trip?” I turned to Enzo.

“The guards just said he was at the gate, want to go down and welcome him home?” He questioned me.

“Absolutely I would love it too.” A smile grew across my face. He and I walked towards the door and down the hall,

“What are you guys doing?” Rae asked while walking towards us.

“We are going to welcome Colton home. You want to come?” I smiled towards her.

“Sure, I was coming to hang out with you anyways.” she turned around and walked to my right side.

“How are you doing?” Rae asked me.

“I’m doing better, some days are harder than others.” I smiled at her.

It was true today I was having a good day. Enzo opened the front door and we walked to the turnaround pull up driveway. Colton was pulling up into the driveway. He put the car in park and opened his door. I saw him pause and sniff, his body started to tense up. A huge smile formed on his face, he used his wolf speed to get over to us, Enzo grabbed my hips and pulled me towards him. He had pulled Rae into his arms.

“Mine” he growled while placing his head on her neck. Her arms were wrapped around his neck, and she was gigging. I started to jump up and down with excitement.

“Yes!” I screamed. Enzo started to laugh at me.

“Do you want to go and get to know each other a little more?” he pulls back and winks at her.

“Yes please” she smirks at him.

“Alpha, Luna, it’s a pleasure to be home but I am going to go spend some time with my mate.” He said while bowing his head to, the both of us. Rae started laughing while he was whispering something in her ear. I turned to Enzo and just smiled.

“Well, I didn’t expect that, did you?” He said to me.

“I didn’t either, but I am happy for them. He is such a good person but can snap if needed. Now her, she is sweet and usually keeps to herself unless pushed far enough.” I said to him,

“Now if only Zeke could find his mate,” I replied. Thank the Moon Goddess that the rooms are soundproof, I did not want to hear them do it.

“So how long do you think they will be out of commission?” I joked with him.

“Um, maybe a day or two.” He laughed. As we were walking back inside, we bumped into Julie.

“Where is Colton? I thought you guys were welcoming him home?” she said, raising her brow.

“Well, it looks like Colton and Rae are mates,” I said with a huge smile on my face.

“Oh, such good news.” She replied, clapping her hands together.

“We need to plan a party for him and Rae, our Gamma, has found his mate. Now if we can find Zeke his.” She laughed

“Let’s meet up in the next couple of days to plan the party. I have a feeling that they are going to be in that room for a while.” She laughed.

“How are we going to find Chad?” I turned to him.

“I have our best trackers out looking for him now. I gave them photos of him and told them to not underestimate him. Don’t worry, we will find him and kill him. I will not rest until he is dead.” He said while grabbing my hands.

“I know it’s hard not to worry, he has already been in the pack walls because of Ariel. What if he gets in again?” I said while my voice breaking.

“Baby girl, he is not going to get in. I saw the patrolman on the walls, and everyone saw his face. They have his ugly face posted up near the gates.” He tried cooing to me. I nodded and pushed my head on his chest, I breathed in his scent, and it calmed me immediately.

“I need to meet with Lacie babe and plan her birthday party, you know this is an important one considering she may find her mate.” I said, getting giddy just thinking about it. He rolled his eyes with a smile on his face.

“Go on”, I turned, and he smacked my ass.

“Hey sis, where are you? Want to meet up and plan your birthday party?” I mind linking her,

“abso-freaking-lutely I want to meet up. I am in my room” she squealed inside my head.

I put up my block and headed towards the 3rd floor where her room is. I went to go knock on her door, but she opened it and pulled me in. She shut the door and pulled me over to bed. We both sat down. In just two days she will be turning 18.

“So, what do you have in mind for your party?” I questioned her. I got up and grabbed a legal pad and pen from her desk, I went and sat back down next to her.

“I want to have a ball like my parents did when they found each other.” She answered while scratching her skin,

“What about food?” I said while writing down my ideas.

“Let’s have grilled chicken, and steaks with potatoes and a salad bar.” She sounded so excited.

“Okay, what kind of colors would you like to decorate with?” I asked her.

“Let’s do the pack colors with white. Oh, and lots of glitter.” She squealed again.

“Okay, what color are you wanting to wear, and I’ll make sure that mom and I don’t wear them.” I said to her.

“Hmm, I think I want to wear gold.” She answered with a smile.

“We need to go shopping then, don’t we?” I teased her. She rolled her eyes; she didn’t dress up whatsoever.

Enzo’s POV

I walked up to my office, I opened the door, and my father was already inside waiting for me. I walked over to my couch and sat down,

“So, any news?” he asked.

“No, not yet. I have our best trackers out there looking for him. I wish this bastard would show his face so I can kill him.” I growled in frustration.

“We need time to plan how everything is going to go. You know that just as well as I do. He will turn up when he is supposed to. How is she holding up?” he replied.

“She is doing well; she has her bad days, and she has her good days. I did not expect her to come out of the room yet. I am proud of her though, she is so strong, you can tell she has Alpha blood in her.” I smiled while I said those last words.

“Well, she is strong, that is for sure. I thought she was going to kill us the night we had to hold her down. I was struggling.” He laughed.

“I heard from your mother that Colton has found his mate and it’s Rae,” he said with a smile.

“Yeah, I am surprised he didn’t try to screw her in the parking lot to be honest.” I said, amused. We laughed for a good minute.

“Sterling came to me the other night asking if she could get a tattoo.” I said to my father.

“How did that go?” he asked.

“I told her she didn’t have to ask that she could get a tattoo if that’s what she wanted to do, as long as it’s not on her face, of course.” I said.

“Good answer, have you spoken to Austin about when he can do it?” he questioned me.

“No, I told her to let me know when she is ready, and I would set it up for her.” I said to him.

“You know your mom and I weren’t much older than you were when we had you. When do you think you two will have pups?” he asked.

“DAD! I don’t want to have a pup right now with everything going on. I would love to have pups with her. Trusting me. I just don’t think that Chad trying to kill her is a good idea,” I said sternly.

“That is a good point, your mom has been begging for one. You know how she can be.” He said to me.

“Oh, I know how she can be,” I replied.
