Logan's POV
Fuck, she looks so beautiful. That enticing smile of hers… She smells so nice too, like fresh lilies. I can’t resist the connection we have. Yes, I've slept with Grace a few months ago, but it doesn’t mean anything to me, honestly, it is one big mistake I made. It was just to satisfy my needs, besides I was drunk. She's never made me feel like Emily does, even though I haven’t talked to her yet. When she looks at me she makes me feel like it’s just the two of us. Of course, Grace needs to ruin it, saying she is my girlfriend… I should’ve denied it, but I was in shock, frozen.
I need to talk to her, right now, before she goes home. I have no idea who is the guy she left with, but I feel so jealous. I want to punch him so badly. They look alike though, maybe he is her brother.
I start walking towards the door. Maybe I can still catch her before she leaves. I am almost out of the cafeteria when I hear...
"And where do you think you're going?!" God, I have never noticed how annoying she is. Hopefully, she will leave me alone soon. "You promised to have lunch with me, baby..." I didn’t promise her anything. She kept talking but I wasn't listening at all, I keep looking over her shoulder at the door. I need to go, right now if I want to explain myself to Emily...
"Are you even listening to me, Logan!?" Grace catches my arm and tries to press herself against me, I quickly pull my arm away from her.
"Not now Grace. Go to your friends. I'll talk to you later..." With that, I leave the cafeteria.
Walking out of the cafeteria I look around trying to find her. She is sitting on a bench in the courtyard with the guy from before. Running down the stairs, I decided I will ask her about it later.
As I get closer, they both turn at the sound of my approaching footsteps. s**t! Her beautiful hazel eyes are red-rimmed and puffy. I’ve never felt so much guilt. She's been crying because of your stupid ass...
"Emily, can we talk, please?" I plead.
"You're the bastard that made my sister cry?!" The guy next to her shouts at me as he stands up, but I can’t care less. I am trapped in those mesmerizing eyes of hers, paying no attention to the dude. So many emotions run through me but the one that I can clearly decipher is remorse... I did this to her and I don’t know how to fix it...
"Emily, I'm-" I am cut off by a right hook to the jaw. I lift my hand to my face and check if there is blood on my lip. Sure enough, I have got a busted lip. I clench my fists and resist the urge to punch him back. That won’t solve anything.
"I probably deserved that, but you only get one chance, then I am punching back." I look from him to Emily, "I've been a d**k I know but please I just need five minutes..." I beg with my eyes.
"You have five seconds to f**k off, or I'll kick your ass. Go back to your precious girlfriend." I am cut off by her brother, again, I look him in the eyes standing my ground making sure he understands that I am not going anywhere. He on the other hand looks as if he is on his last straw and is going to pop off. I register a movement in my peripheral vision and I realize it is Em standing up. She places a hand on the guy's shoulder.
"Hardin it's fine… I can take care of myself." Emily reassures him. So Hardin's his name... He reluctantly looks at her then, "You sure Emi?" She gives him a small smile and nods.
"I will wait in the car. You've got five minutes." He hugs Emily and goes to the car.
"What do you want to talk about?" She looks so pure, innocent, and utterly beautiful, though she doesn’t look into my eyes. I make my way to her slowly, not to scare her, we stand a few inches apart, I put my thumb under her chin so she is looking into my eyes. I see pain, sadness, tenderness, and innocence in the windows to her soul. Those feelings are not because of me though, it is like she has been sad for a long time. I don’t know why she’s hurting but I want to take away the pain.
"I don't know why do I feel this pull to you, but it makes me feel things I've never felt for anyone before..." She eyes me with confusion, but then it turns into understanding. Then she asks the dreaded question...
“The girl from before, is she your girlfriend?" She says it with so much pain, I feel so disgusted with myself and mostly with Grace.
"No. Her name is Grace. She is kind of obsessed with the idea of being my girlfriend..." I say with as much sincerity as I can muster. God, Logan why couldn't you keep it in your pants, man!! I am so mad at myself.
"It didn't look like that to me at first, but I guess I can understand the situation you are in. Honestly Logan, what do you want?" She starts to get annoyed and angry. Fire sparks in her eyes when she gets angry, it looks really hot, not gonna lie... Not now, snap out of it!! Not the right time for this.
"You..." I am honest with her. I want her in every definition of the word. I want her in every way possible. I want to get to know her, take her out. I want to see her smile, laugh, and be happy. I want her to confide in me, to let me help her through the pain that swirls in those eyes even now with the fire that I can still see in them. I've seen this look on mom's face when my aunt Ella died. She hesitates with the answer. But then her brother shouts at her to go. Please don’t…
“I need to go Logan. See you tomorrow in school.” With that, she turns around and is about to walk away but before she can take a step in the direction of the car I have her hand in mine and pull her to my chest. She looks so flustered and the way she smells… Snap out of it dude!!
Before I can stop myself I say, “Get to know me first before you push me away. Let me take you to lunch tomorrow, please…” I know she’s about to decline, so I say, “Saying no is not an option right now. If you want to leave during lunch or not even show up, that’s okay. Just don’t reject me. Give it a shot, please. I will wait for you tomorrow here at 1 pm.” With that I let her go but I don’t step away from her. She looks at me with admiration, her breath hitches. She walks backwards to the car, still looking at me. As she sits in the driver’s seat and starts the car James comes up next to me, looking at the car.
When he looks at me he says, “You okay bro?” The only thing I can do is nod at him.
“That’s the girl from earlier right? The one that’s got you all sappy and lovey.” He asks with a chuckle.
“Her name is Emily…” I look at him while I continue, “I hope she’ll meet me for lunch tomorrow.” As I look at him I see he’s intrigued by the idea.
“She sat with Cordelia on math by the way,” I say it because I know it will get his attention. “Dude, just ask her out, I am sure she’ll say yes.” I continue. He has been in love with her since elementary school and almost asked her out but then her parents died. He wanted to give her space… Maybe he gave her too much. “Jem I’ve seen how she looks at you, she is smitten with you. Besides you two make this whole friend group awkward with the silence between you,” I say when he looks at me, wanting to silence me but I continue, “Haven’t you noticed that since you started flirting with every girl around you, she doesn’t come to hang out with us anymore?” I know I’m pushing it but she is a nice girl and I don’t want her getting hurt, besides they both deserve happiness. I glance at him but he’s looking at my car. We have been best friends since we were born, I know him like the back of my hand, he is avoiding it because he knows I am right.
“Just give me a ride home Lo.” He says and walks to my car. The look in his eyes distant, with that I make my way to my car and drive is home, thinking about a certain girl.
Emily's POV
"You..." He says it with so much need. It makes me breathless. I don’t know him. He looks so vulnerable and for a moment I believe him, believe that everything will be okay. I want to hug him so badly…
Hardin's voice snaps me out of my thoughts, "Are you coming Emi?" he shouts.
"I need to go home, Logan. See you tomorrow in school." I turn around and am about to walk to my car when he catches my hand and pulls me to his hard chest. He smells so manly, so nice. I never want him to stop touching me. Every moment with him is so intense. He is so damn hot… God, Emily!
"Get to know me first before you push me away. Let me take you to lunch tomorrow, please…” I am about to decline when he continues, "Saying no is not an option right now. If you want to leave during lunch or not even show up, that’s okay. Just don’t reject me. Give it a shot, please. I will wait for you tomorrow here at 1 pm." He lets me go but doesn’t step away. When I look up at him, I can’t help but admire him, he doesn’t give up, does he? I need to go because Hardin is waiting. I start walking backwards to my car, still looking at his blue orbs. I sit in the driver’s seat and finally break eye contact when the boy from before shows up behind him. No matter how handsome the guy is, Logan looks way better.
I get in my car, put my keys in the ignition when Hardin finally asks me the question that is bugging him. "Who is that guy?" He looks at me suspiciously but doesn’t say anything else.
"I met him today. His name is Logan and I think I am going to have a lunch date with him tomorrow…” I wasn't sure about the date part, but it sounded like one and besides he’s single so it shouldn’t be a problem right? He was so sincere, genuine and smelled so good. Maybe we could be friends? Who are you kidding Emily, friends? With Mr Handsome? Hah, that is a good one! He was right about one thing, I don’t know him and maybe he isn’t as bad as I thought he was. Maybe he would understand me? Maybe even date me? I can’t get my hopes up though.
Hardin's POV
Emily was so pure and innocent, she's never been on a real date nor did she ever have a boyfriend. I know that Logan and Grace were probably just sleeping together. The guy should pray to God because if he hurts her, I am going to raise hell on Earth. She shouldn’t suffer through heartbreak like that one.
I know that my sister doesn't like to talk about her emotions, thoughts, ideas and mostly she hates getting her hopes up, she never does that. I can see that she is constantly pushing people away, she is sad all the time even though she tries to hide it, I'm her twin, I know her better than she knows herself. She is keeping it together for me and Chris. SHE is the strongest from all of us. Still, though she doesn’t break down in front of us. Maybe she thinks she is protecting us, or she is just scared of what would we think.
Logan looked like he was really starting to feel something for her if the look on his face said the truth. I heard rumours about him, nobody knows much. There was one thing that was known, he was crazy rich, his mother was a well-known surgeon in the US. He was the star quarterback and although Grace seems to think they are a couple everyone says they just slept together once...
"Are you okay sis?" She looks a little upset, so I asked.
"I just want to get home." She was avoiding the answer to the question which means that she is not okay and is intrigued by Logan.
"Mom died Emi. It doesn't mean that you can't have friends, fun, dates." I try to reassure her, to make her see that not everybody leaves. "She would want you to be happy, you know. You need friends. Everybody has someone they like. Maybe you should go to that lunch with him, but I swear if he makes you cry one more time, I am going to beat the s**t out of him." She looks at me with tears in her eyes.
"You're the best twin I could ask for..." She smiles her amazing smile that makes my day. I miss the happy, carefree Emily and I intend to bring her back, even if it means her going out with Logan...
