Chapter 10 — Every Alpha Wants Me Now (Send Help)

543 Words
“They want to see the Queen.” Silence. Like the entire tunnel just forgot how to breathe. I slowly turned my head toward Kael. “Please tell me that’s a metaphor.” Kael didn’t answer. Bro. That’s never good. The Alpha King stepped forward slightly, expression unreadable. “This is getting out of control.” Selena muttered, “It was already out of control.” Respectfully… she was right. Another explosion echoed outside. BOOM. The ground shook. Dust fell from the ceiling. And then— voices. Not inside the tunnel. Outside. Chanting. Hundreds of wolves. All of them repeating the same thing. “QUEEN.” “QUEEN.” “QUEEN.” Nah because this was giving cult energy. I covered my ears. “Why are they chanting my name like I’m about to drop an album??” Kael placed himself in front of me instantly. Protective again. Always protective. The Alpha King looked irritated now. “This is exactly why she shouldn’t have awakened here.” Kael snapped his head toward him. “Don’t act like this is my fault.” “Oh it is,” the King said coldly. “You bonded her prematurely.” I pointed aggressively between them. “Can someone please explain WHY EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT ME LIKE I’M A WEAPON??” Silence. Then Kael turned slightly toward me. His voice softened. “You are not a weapon.” The King laughed once. “That’s what they all say.” Another tremor shook the tunnel. Cracks spread across the walls. And suddenly— a new presence entered. Everything froze. Even Kael stiffened. The Alpha King went completely still. Selena whispered, “Oh no…” I felt it before I saw it. Pressure. Heavy. Ancient. Like gravity itself had become a person. Footsteps echoed slowly through the tunnel entrance. One. Two. Three. And then— he walked in. Tall. Covered in black armor. Golden eyes glowing like molten fire. Every wolf outside went silent instantly. The chanting stopped. Absolute silence. Kael’s expression darkened. “…Darius.” Oh great. Another final boss unlocked. The new Alpha stopped when he saw me. And smiled. Not friendly. Not kind. Possessive. “I’ve finally found her,” he said softly. I immediately stepped back. “Nope. I am not available. I am fully booked with emotional damage already.” Kael growled low. Darius ignored him completely. His golden eyes locked onto mine. “You’re even more powerful than the rumors said.” Rumors??? Bro I was just trying to pass life normally yesterday. The Alpha King stepped forward. “You’re trespassing.” Darius tilted his head. “I’m collecting what belongs to the future.” Future??? I pointed at myself. “WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP OWNING ME?? I DID NOT SIGN ANY PAPERWORK.” Kael grabbed my wrist. “You’re not going with him.” Darius smiled wider. “Oh Kael…” Then his gaze sharpened dangerously. “You don’t get a choice anymore.” The tunnel shook violently again. And suddenly— outside, thousands of wolves howled at once. Not submission. Not fear. War. Darius raised his hand slightly. And the earth outside cracked open. “Because,” he said calmly, “…the war for the Queen has already begun.”
