They fell on hard times and things got bad. Although grandma came from a wealthy family she also married into a wealthy family at her father’s persuasion. She left him because of his cruelty from what I heard from mama he was a very cruel man and grandma being small and delicate could not possibly continue living in those conditions. Being pampered all her life she was not used to any other lifestyle than that of bliss and total comfort. She left him for his best-friend.
