Lucian . . I sat in the dimly lit lounge, a glass of whiskey in my hand. The ice clinked softly as I swirled the amber liquid, my gaze fixed on nothing in particular. The room was quiet… too quiet. I exhaled slowly, leaning back in my chair. I had meant to clear my mind, to focus, but instead, she kept slipping in. Mara. My jaw tightened as I took a slow sip, the burn of the alcohol doing little to distract me. I shouldn’t be thinking about her. She was just my maid. That was all.
