Chapter 3

Zayan Kairo Monroe’s point of view…

“Kairo, how is your new movie with Nyra?” the reporter asked me.

I am currently in the red carpet now, being questioned by these reporters, my manager asked me to attend this ball because she wants me to interact with other artists, but little didn’t she know that I came here for another reason.

“It’s good, the taping was excellent so expect a good movie once it came out,” naka ngiting sagot ko sa kanila. Ngumiti naman sila sa akin at tumango.

“What is your real score with Nyra, Kairo?” one reporter asked. I scrunched my nose because of the question.

“There’s nothing going on between us, we are just acquintances,” I said, smiling.

“Oh really? Nyra herself said earlier that you two are working on your relationship very well,”

i smiled, unable to say a thing because if I will spill the real deal, Nyra might face a huge backlash and it’s not good with our upcoming movie.

“She may be right or wrong, let’s just wait,” naka ngiting sagot ko sa kanya.

Agad akong naka ramdam ng inis dahil sa na laman ko. agad akong pumasok sa loob ng venue, sakto lang ang dating ko pero marami na ring tao sa venue.

I wandered my eyes on the whole venue trying to find the reason why I attended this ball.

“Kai,” Nyra suddenly popped on my side uninvited.

“Nyra,” I casually said without putting my eyes on her.

“Why are you here alone?” she asked.

“I am not fond of interacting with other people,” kaswal na sagot ko sa kanya.

Napa buntong hininga naman siya sa sinabi ko.

“It’s good if you will interact with others, Kai,” sagot niya sa akin.

I chuckled.

“Why?” naka taas ang kilau na tanong ko sa kanya.

Anong why? this is the reason why we attended this ball, Kai,” sagot niya sa akin pero agad ko naman siyang inilingan.

“You don’t lecture me on what I wanna do, Nyra,” I said seriously. She looked at me shockingly because of what I said.

She look so offended on my words.

“I am just saying, Kai,” sagot niya.

Tumango nalang ako sa kanya at hindi ko na siya pinansin, I looked at the door and i saw the person I’ve been looking for.

“She looks so pretty in person,” Nyra blurted while looking at Kairis.

Hndi ko naman siya sinagot at pa tuloy pa rin ang pag tingin ko kay Kairis.

“Why aren’t you answering Kai?” she asked me. I looked at her annoyingly.

“Can you please just shut up for a moment if you won’t leave me alone?”

Annoying. That’s an understatement of Nyra’s presence on my life, she doesn’t take hints that I don’t like her.

“Oh sorry,” she said, then actually left my side. I exhaled some air because of the peace that she gave me because she left.

I looked at Kairis, I saw her with Xavian, siya palagi ang ka sama niya sa mga movies niya, I suddenly felt my anger rising while seeing them chatting together happily.

Tumalim ang tingin ko nang ma kita ko ang kamay ni Xavian na nasa bewang ni Kairis ngayon.

“This fucker,” bulong ko sa sarili ko habang hindi ko ina alis ang tingin ko sa kanilang dalawa.

For the love of God, I didn’t know what good deed I made on my past life to be able to stared by Kairis. She roamed her eyes on the whole venue and saw my eyes, our eyes instantly lcoked into each other.

I felt my heart racing because of her stares, she looked at me curiously probably wondering why I am looking at her intently, but I don’t wanna back down so she sighed defeatedly and took her eyes off me.

“Kairo, how are you man?” Chit suddenly came on my side.

Binaling ko sa kanya ang paningin ko.

“I am good Chit, how about you?” naka ngising tanong ko sa kanya.

Even though I don’t wanna entertain him, wala akong maga gawa dahil siya na mismo ang lumapit sa akin.

“Good good,” naka ngising sagot niya sa akin.

Napa buntong hininga naman ako at binalik ko ang paningin ko kay Kairis.

“Congratulations on your new movie, Chit,” I said to him. He looked at me smiling.

“Thank you man,” he smirked.

His smirk almost annoyed me but I cannot do anything about it, I have this secret animosity of him because of what he did to me years ago. I hold grudges.

“How are you and Nyra? I heard her insinuating that you and her are a thing now,” sagot niya sa akin. Ngumiwi ako agad sa sinabi niya at bahagyang na tawa.

So it’s not just the reporters who thinks that now? knowing Chit, he doesn’t usually oinvolve his self on some shady rumors unless stated by the artists itself.

“There’s nothing going on between us, Chit. We are just merely co workers,” sagot ko sa kanya.

Na tawa naman siya sa sinabi ko at na kita kong hinawakan niya ang pang ibabang labi niya, obviously mocking me.

“Man, what are you doing? Nyra is a catch, and you are just letting her slip like that?” he said with his eyebrows raised at me.

He looks like a disappointed father looking at his disappointment son.

“I don’t treat women as trophies, Chit,” seryosong sagot ko sa kanya.

He looked at me offended and he held his chest to continue his annoying acting.

“And I do?” nata tawang tanong niya sa akin kaya hinarap ko siya.

“Am I wrong?” pag bawi ko sa sinabi niya sa akin. Ngumisi naman siya sa akin at bahagyang umiling.

“You’re wrong, I don’t treat women as trophies, Kairo,” seryosong sagot niya sa akin.

Hindi na ako sumagot pa sa kanya dahil baka ma inis lang ako nang tuluyan sa mga pinag sasabi niya sa akin. ‘

Nang ma pansin niyang wala na akong balak pa na sumagot sa kanya ay kusa na siyang umalis. Napa buntong hininga nalang ako nang ma kita ko na umalis na siya sa harapan ko. Agad kong hinanap kung nasaan si Kairis.

Na kita ko siyang nasa buffet table kaya naman dahan dahan akong nag lakad papunta roon.

“Did you saw him looking at you?” I heard the other girl asked her.

“No, I didn’t see it,” she answered quickly. Tahimik lang akong nasa gilid nila at na kikinig.

I know eavesdropping is bad, but I don’t care.

“Girl I swear I saw him looking at you intently the entire time,”

“Stop it, baka may maka rinig, magka issue pa ako,” sagot naman ni Kairis sa ka sama niya.

Napa hugot ako nang malalim na hininga bago ako lumapit nang bahagya sa kanya.

“Can you please hand me one piece of brownies please?” sambit ko sa kanya. Agad naman siyang napa tingin sa akin at tumango.

Agad niyang nilagyan ng brownies ang plato ko kaya napa tingin ako rito.

“Thank you,” mahinang sagot ko sa kanya.

“No biggies,” sagot niya pa balik sa akin at umalis na siya dahil na una nang umalis ang ka sama niya.

Bahagya akong ngumisi at bumalik sa lamesa ko para kumain. i am not fond of sweets but this is the only thing that I can strike a small conversation to her.

I don’t even know why I am acting this way. I really like Kairis even before I saw her outside her company, she wasn’t a big actress back then, we are the same and she instantly caught my attention and that’s when it started.
