Matt left me standing in the hallway alone. My heart was squeezed so tight in my chest I couldn’t even say anything to stop him as I tried to properly register his words. I had no idea that they knew each other, nevermind all the bad blood between them, and now I just feel like the worst person in the world. He looked straight into my eyes, allowing me to see all the pain and disappointment swirling around in his. Seeing him like that gutted me so deeply, I struggled to keep all the tears, that piled up in my eyes, from shedding.
It was a mission impossible.
