Claiming the alluring Luna

Chapter 1

“I reject you, Alpha Kai, as my husband and mate.” I screamed the second time, in case I wasn't heard the first time.

My husband, Alpha Kai stared at me in wonder and I couldn't help but smile at his shock. This was like a dream come true to see that I could make him feel miserable the way he had treated me too.

“Astrid, what are you doing? What?” His eyes searched mine in an effort to find a reason why I was doing this. He was whispering so I couldn't recognise his voice since it was always loud and rude whenever he spoke to me.

Dressed in my most beautiful dress as Luna, I rejected my mate and husband of 5 years and to be honest, I was enjoying how gasps and shock filled the whole room. It was like music to my wounded soul.

“Astrid, stop this.” He ordered, then approached me and reached out to hold my hand. “Why are you doing this? You can't do this here, not here.”

It was hurtful hearing him say that he didn't want to divorce me here because everyone was present but he was willing to do it in private?

We were at his 34th birthday party which I, myself, had planned. I knew he had plans to divorce me either at this party or later at night but for once, I was faster than he was in executing the divorce.

“Well, I am doing this here.” I screamed, stomping my feet to the ground. “I am rejecting you, asshole.”

“Astrid, please stop. You are breaking my heart.” He pleaded.

Fucking Liar!

“I mean I want a divorce.. in fact since it's your birthday, I have a birthday present for you.” I walked out of the podium where we stood into the crowd where I had kept my purse.

I pulled out a brown envelope and ascended the altar with it, pushing it into his hands while ignoring the death stare I got from everyone.

With a nod, I reassured him to open it.

“For f**k sake Astrid, I really hope this is a joke…” He said as he tore the envelope open. He shifted uncomfortably when he saw the contents of the envelope. “Let's talk about this privately.”

Murmuring filled the hall like wildfire. I mean, who would believe that the Alpha was having an affair with another woman and he was doing it with no other person than my own cousin.

How despicable.

I had just found out a few days ago that it's been happening behind my back for many months. I always knew that Alpha Kai was cheating and f*****g with different women but this broke the camel's back for me.

I had visited his office and was let into his office without prior information since I was his Luna and I found them having s*x on his office table.

My husband and my closest cousin and friend. My disgust when I found out!

They were so engrossed that I took some snaps and they still didn't notice my presence in the room. So guess his surprise when he saw a picture of his naked self f*****g my own cousin sister, Charlotte.

“I don't think there's anything we should talk about, Kai.” He took a few steps towards me but I took a few steps away from him.

I stared into his eyes for the last time. He had been the absolute love of my life and I had endured so much pain in that marriage because I loved him but he never for one day treated me like a human.

We were supposed to get married, have babies and grow old together but that was totally impossible right now.

This past week has been the most terrible week of my life. The day I had gone to his office was supposed to be the day I would break the news of my pregnancy. I had earlier visited the doctor and he gave me the greatest news ever.

We were going to have babies and I was excited that I had to run to his office even when he warned me never to step foot there. After finding out, he was sleeping with my cousin, that same day I found out he was trying to divorce me and throw me out of the Palace as well.

The Queen Luna, his mother , who hated me so much, was speaking with someone on the phone. They talked about how they would call me out and disgrace me, accusing me of cheating and then serve divorce papers to me.

I had never cheated once on Kai but they were going to accuse me and get Kai married to my cousin, Charlotte.

I had been treated like s**t so I decided to have them taste their own medicine. I boldly approached the Queen Luna asking her for permission to plan my own husband's party. I know she must have thought that I was stupid but I wasn't.

I stood in front of the podium which I had made sure was among the party's set up and I declared loud and clear. “I reject you, Kai, Alpha of Shadow fell park as my mate. There's a divorce paper in that envelope as well, do well to sign it.”

The uproar this time around was out of it. The people looked on, confused with everything going on. Kai stood at a corner, his head bent in shame while I could sight his furious mother in the crowd.

“Astrid? What's going on? You can't reject the Alpha.” Charlotte cried. Even yesterday, she was still in my room, trying to make small talk with me about the Alpha's party. I didn't believe she could do that to me.

“You didn't know that, before you thought of sleeping with a married man? For Christ sakes, Charlotte he was my husband!” I had told myself that I wouldn't shed even a tear but yet, they were escaping my eyes in full force as I spoke to her.

She couldn't even say another word.

Exactly the reaction I expected.

“Yes! Your beloved Alpha had been sleeping with everything that has a f*****g v****a and worse, he was sleeping with my cousin too. I mean how bleak.” I turned to the crowd who I believed still hadn't gotten over the shock. I still had so much to say but a sharp sting on my face didn't let me finish.

“How dare you disgrace my son, the Alpha of this mighty park? Who the hell do you think you are, you barren fool?”

That was the reason I was being treated like I was half a human? Because I couldn't give the Alpha a child. I didn't have a single atom of respect for her anymore. All the years I and Kai were married she had always supported him, not minding that he was a cheater.

“How dare you? You pathetic woman. You are nothing..” She screamed and was about to hit me again when I dodged the slap, making her lose her balance.

“I'm only speaking the truth. Your son is despicable. He is a cheater and a Liar.” I wasn't supposed to look the Queen Luna in her eyes but I did and I knew I would get punished for it but I didn't give a f**k, at the moment.

“You dare talk back to me?” She turned to the strong men surrounding the environment. “Guards, give her 40 lashes, right now.”

Before I could understand what's going on, two strong figures grabbed me, making me kneel on my feet. When the first cane came in contact with my body, I felt a cold shiver run down my spine.

I knew I couldn't kneel like this and do nothing or else the life of my child would be in danger.

“No, no!” I screamed back. “I'll accept any punishment.. anything except this.” I cried, hoping that Kai would help me for the last time. Actually, even though he wasn't aware, he would be saving his unborn child too.

“Wait.” He ordered the guards who did as they were ordered. They unchained me and I fell to the floor. Kai knelt to my level, leaning into my eyes, whispering. “I never loved you. You were just a s*x toy to me.”

My heart stopped beating for a second when I heard that. I had thought that he had loved me but maybe had stopped when we had issues having babies but hearing this now made me feel totally worthless.

“All those talk about loving you.. all..” He was still talking when I stood up, abruptly.

“I don't need an explanation, it's of no use.” I said, waiting patiently for his verdict.

“I hear by, strip Astrid Rogerhead of her position as Luna. She is hereby banished from Shadowfell, never to step foot till the expiration of 4 years.” The Alpha ordered.
