Erin left Jaden on his own. Jaden was in the palace, taking care of it in the absence of Erin. He did not become the king in his absence, but he had somewhat more responsibilities than before. Jaden was taking care of all of the things, like the military training and the fights which were to cause problems around the palace. Firing who did not take their responsibilities properly and most importantly read the books about Luna which were in the library.
Erin never trusted anyone to do his reading work. He thought that they could miss something, but if it was him, he would not. He thought that his love for her would make him look more deeply into the book than the person who was not in love with her.
