Morning came far too quickly and still half asleep, I shuffled through my room to open the window. The air was still fresh and cool at this time but it would quickly turn into a smothering heat. Despite the early hour, it wasn’t entirely dark anymore and I could see the rows and rows of grapevines from my bedroom. What a gorgeous sight. The only thing missing was someone to share it with. Someone like Callie, perhaps?
The thought startled me and I quickly shook it out of my head. There was no evidence that there was anything more between us than good-natured flirting. I shouldn’t start dreaming of her before I knew where we stood. Besides, she didn’t even live around her and I couldn’t imagine she’d give up a cushy job at Dionysus temple for a simple life on the countryside.
