I walked up to Arielle’s front door, my footsteps echoing in the quiet morning air. Today was different from the usual routine. It was just me, going to pick Arielle up for school. Enzo and Derek had some pack work to attend to, and I was tasked with making sure Arielle made it to school safely.
Arielle opened the door, her bright smile illuminating her face as soon as she saw me. “Hey, Aiden! Where are Enzo and Derek?” she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
I returned her smile, reaching out to gently brush a strand of her hair behind her ear. “They had some pack work to take care of, love,” I replied, my voice filled with reassurance. “But don’t worry, they’ll be back soon.”
