Esus The Legend

Prologue

2020

Esus woke with a killer migraine, understandable considering he had been partying hard yesterday. The state of his one bedroom apartment was in complete disarray.

He was laying on a duvet, His friend Aleko was on the couch on his right and Pin was on a pile of dirty laundry on the floor. On the coffee table a mountain of ash on the ashtray, a pile of chewed up khart, a bottle of Hennessy half full and a hp laptop on that same table.

Connected to the wifi and tuned amazingly to KTN News online a channel that in any normal day he would never be caught dead watching. But this was special a countdown occupied the bottom left conner of the screen, seventy two hours thirty minutes and five seconds to launch LITRPG the most awaited game of the century. It claimed to make the players dreams come true, so it was the life saver for Esus having lost his employment at leestar supermarket due to the pandemic. He needed something to do therefore the game was a lifesaver. Though at the time most would agree a game can't be a career but f**k to him as he liked to put it "it is what it is until it is no more" and anything is better than total unemployment.

He got up w**d in his brain. Being an addict he seriously needed to get high in oder to get on with his day.

'what?' red eyed and looking exactly how Esus felt at that very moment.

'goin to get breakfast should I get you anything?'

'Yeah come back with some w**d cookies ok' he said groggily

'ok' he said heading to the bathroom to clean his face.

He did not have to ask Pin

'Yeah I need some of that too' pin said coming to.

It was 7:30 am as he stepped out in the cold October drizzle.

what a f****d up day to be outside he thought. He pulled his jacket tightly around him.

'Hey' shouted Jode his nieghbour waving at Esus looking completely jovial a contrast to the environment

'Hey good morning'

'good morning to you to you too' Jode said smiling

'Going to work?' he asked

'yeah'

'You are one lucky bastard you know that' Esus said

'Only thanks to God you know' he said sincerely believing his words

Esus being a none believer said 'yeah whatever you say, Have a nice day though'

'Thanks' Jode said walking away to the bus station as Esus went the opposite direction.
