Married to a Contract

Chapter1

In the City of Milan, the Giovanni's are the most powerful and richest people. No one is as powerful and rich as the Giovanni's. The saying “money buys power” is very true for them. Lexi the Secretary who has been working for the head office since she graduated college.

Lexi wakes up, she doesn't feel like going to work at all, she isn't really into the Secretary work, but she needs to make ends meet. With zero energy in her body she tries to get up and prepare for work.

Lexi’s mom died in a car crash when Lexi was just 5 so it's always been her dad and sister. Her dad tried so many works to put food on the table but in the process he ended up borrowing more than he can pay back, so the money responsibilities has always fallen on Lexi. She had to start working when she was just a teen, while her other friends went to parties, clubs, fun parks, Lexi was always working and if not working studying.

She had to get a job to pay her school bills, she attended a public high school, and later on she wrote a scholarship exam to a university and ended up passing, she got second place in the scholarship exam.

Lexi struggled in university, she studied business and struggled with having a job to pay bills and having to go to class doing assignments and passing her exams. She had to work full time and also had to be a full time student, it was a struggle. But Lexi managed to graduate with a CGPA of 4.79. After she graduated college he sent her résumé to apply do The Giovanni's firm and she managed to pass the interview and has been working there since, for her rude and obnoxious boss Matteo Giovanni.

Lexi goes to have her bath and after she's done she dresses up and goes to have breakfast she puts 2 slices of bread in the toast machine. Lexi's dad sees her eating and about to go to work and he wants to tell her something. He wants her about his new financial debts.

“I need to get to work dad"! Lexi said as her father wants to tell her something before she leaves. “please please just hear me out" her father replies, “when you say something like this, it's to tell me that you have more financial bills piling up, why do you keep borrowing money you can't pay back, I'm young I'm supposed to be having fun but I'm here having to pay your bills it's exhausting” Lexi said except she can never say that to her dad do she just thought it. “I have to go to work bye, tell me when I come back" with that she stormed out.

Lexi is a small and fragile looking girl, she has dark hair and brown eyes, she also has a very pretty face. On her way to work she calls her boyfriend Alessandro. The phone call went like this:

Lexi: Hey babe, how are you

Alessandro: I was just about to call you

Lexi: I'm headed for work and just thought to call you to hear how you were

Alessandro: I'm sorry for doing this but can you send me some money

Lexi: WHAT?! I just sent you some yesterday

Alessandro: yes I know but I used it for something

Lexi: I can't I'm in a financial crisis

Alessandro: please babe

Lexi: Fine but you better give me back

With that she ended the call, “everyone asks me for money like I'm an ATM machine, me too also wish I have someone giving me money, whatever let me just get to work at this point" she said.

As she got to work she got her boss Matteo’s coffee and she put it on his table arranged the files and documents neatly on his table.

As she was done she saw Matteo with his mother coming in. She thought it was weird his mother coming in with him, his mother's name is Sandra.

Lexi greets Matteo and his mother Sandra, Sandra answers her and greets her back but Matteo just walks past like he didn't know she was greeting him.

When Matteo and Sandra enters his office Sandra starts nagging to for ignoring Lexi “You could've just nodded back to her instead of ignoring her", Matteo who is clearly not in the mood for his mother's nagging says “I don't have to talk to people I don't want to", Sandra who is clearly tired of his attitude says “how will you get married with an attitude like this"? Matteo rolls his eyes and says “I have told you many times, I'm not going to settle down with anyone or get married”, Sandra is tired of having this talk with him says sternly “You have to settle down and get married". Matteo who is not backing down now says “Mom you have been pressuring me to get married since, I don't want to. And plus l haven't seen any lady to match my vibe" Matteo replied.

Sandra has been wanting Matteo to get married for years now, she hates seeing her baby alone. She knows he is very rude and obnoxious and would take an eternity to find a woman that wants to settle down with him. “Whatever that's not fully why I came here" Sandra said “Your dad's health has serious been declining, when I used to tell him when we were younger take it easy in smoke, stop smoking he would never listen to me now he's paying for it". “Is there a way we can help him more at least take him to another country for treatment”? Matteo asked, “I have gotten the best doctor in the whole of Italy and he said your father is not going to live past 8 months" Sandra said sadly trying not to let a tear fall. Matteo tries to comfort her “It's okay mom, I'm always here for you", “It's so weird you trying to comfort me cause you have no idea the way the human emotions work" Sandra said laughing, “I see you are already feeling better” Matteo replied.

Lexi comes in to give Sandra a plate of salad and coffee. “Ma your food, I had no idea you were coming, so I just went to get the salad you like so much” Lexi said, “thank you my daughter" Sandra said and she had to say another thing on her mind “Matteo, Lexi you two should marry each other, you can marry now I know a church nearby”, they both look at Sandra perplexed.
