Charlotte couldn't believe what she'd just said to Mr. Gowrey. She just admitted to him that she was indeed attracted to him, and was willing to explore the possibilities for a relationship further. He mentioned falling in love, saying that was the easy part. Except… How could he possibly love her? They’d only known each other for a few days. From what she understood, love was something that grows when the conditions for it to flourish are in place.
Her mother had said she would know when she met the right man. Charlotte wasn’t yet sure if Mr. Gowrey was the right man, but they did have a strange attraction to each other. She wanted more time together with him, to discover his true intentions before she gave in to any of these desires she wanted so desperately to give into.
