We pulled up at the club, situated on the outskirts of town for reasons only Ann knew. And I didn’t bother to ask because she would just give me a long-ass explanation. I simply followed her lead, intrigued by the mysterious choice of location, that’s all.
The club’s neon lights flickered, casting an iridescent glow on the pavement as we stepped out of the car. The thumping bass from inside reverberated through the night air, causing a slight ache in my head. Gosh! Why was club music always this loud? Ann grinned mischievously beside me, her eyes sparkling with anticipation and excitement as she led us toward the entrance, her heels clicking against the pavement. As we approached the door, the bouncer positioned there, gave us a nod of approval, allowing us entry without a second glance.
The interior of the club was another world of its own, with flashing lights, pounding music, the dance floor pulsing with different kinds of energy, and bodies swaying to the rhythm of the music as the colorful lights danced overhead.
“I’m heading to the bar,” I shouted over the music, gesturing towards a crowded spot at the back. If I didn’t talk now, Ann would waste no time dragging me towards the dance floor with her.
Ann nodded enthusiastically. “I’ll join you in a bit. Need to scout for potential dance partners first.” She winked and I scowled in disgust
“Ann…”
“Just dance partners, trust me” she giggled
“Ann” I chuckled. “Alright fine, go. I’ll be at the bar.”
Ann nodded enthusiastically. “Okay, I’ll meet you there, bye! But don’t drink too much, Mia” she warned
“Yes, mom.” I rolled my eyes and turned to leave as I navigated my way through the things of people, finally reaching the bar. The bartender caught my eye and flashed me a charming smile. He was cute, I’d give him that.
“What can I get for you, pretty girl?” He asked, leaning in closer to hear me over the music.
“I’ll have a vodka cranberry, please” I blushed, raising my voice to be heard. “And a little tequila.”
“Gotcha.” He smirks and begins mixing my drink. As I waited for my drink, I scanned the crowd, taking in the eclectic mix of people in the club. Some were dancing with abandon whilst lost in their worlds, while others leaned against the bar, flirting with each other, making out, and even having wild s*x. I cringed and quickly averted my eyes. But luckily, my drink arrived just in time, and I took a sip, relishing the cool, refreshing taste of vodka. “f**k!” I moaned and the bartender chuckled, clearly interested in the way I sounded.
Ann appeared at my side, a mischievous glint in her eyes. Oh my God! What the f**k was she planning now?
“Found some potential dance partners, but they’re not quite my type,” she said, leaving in close to be heard
“What do you mean?” I asked her
“I don’t know, they weren’t giving men who can satisfy a woman till she see stars, you know”
“Well, I don’t know.” I chuckled and took another sip of my drink. “But, don’t let that stop you. Go work your magic on the dance floor!”
Ann grinned and gave me a playful wink before disappearing into the crowd. Left alone at the bar, I swirled the ice cubes in my glass, lost in thought. No matter how I tried to stop it, memories of Jason and me kept on flowing. I shook my head and downed another shot of my drink. The pulsating beat of one of my favorite music filled the air, and I immediately felt a surge of energy coursing through me. With a newfound determination to forget what made me come here in the first place, I downed the rest of my drink and set the glass down on the counter.
Pushing my way through the crowd, I made my way to the dance floor, Surrendering myself to the music’s hypnotic spell. My body moved instinctively to the rhythm, each movement fluid and effortless.
As I danced, I felt a pair of hands on my hips, pulling me closer to a stranger behind me. I allowed myself to be swept away in the moment, lost in the sensation of movement and music and the feel of the stranger's hand around me. It felt nice to be held so intimately like this after a long while by someone who isn’t Jason. My body continues to sway to the best of the music. Lost in the moment, I closed my eyes and let the music consume me, the cares of the world fading into the background.
Slowly but softly, the song came to an end, and I quickly pulled away from the stranger's grasp, suddenly feeling self-conscious. I didn’t even care to know who he was, I just quickly made my way back to the bar, needing a moment to catch my breath and collect all my ragged thoughts.
As I approached the counter, I noticed a lone figure, seated at the chair next to mine, his gaze fixed on me with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. There was just something all too familiar about him, a hit of recognition that flickers in the depths of my mind. But I quickly brushed it aside with a dismissive thought – surely, I wouldn’t know anyone who ventured to the outskirts of town just to go clubbing.
Ignoring the eyes of the stranger, I took my seat at the bar and signaled to the bartender for another drink, my heart still raving from the exhilarating dance. I quickly scanned the bar, looking for where Ann was when I didn’t see her, I turned back to my drink when my eyes fell upon the stranger again. He was still staring at me, his eyes like ice, filled with so much more than desire and that made a heat pool between my legs.
Fuck, Mia, this is wrong. You shouldn’t be thinking about the many ways this strange guy could make you c*m.
Unable to resist, I lift my gaze once more, finding his eyes still locked onto mine. Another surge of electricity courses through me as a coy smile spreads across his lips. Leaning in, he whispers into my ear, his warm breath sending shivers down my spine. "You look stunning tonight, mi amor." His eyes sparkle and that just led me to think one thing
‘Would I surviv
e this night without knowing how this guy tastes?”
