Chapter 13: The war Inside Her

674 Words
Darkness swallowed everything. Nyra couldn’t feel the ground anymore. Couldn’t hear Ronan. Couldn’t see Kael. She was falling— Not physically. But deeper. Into herself. “No…” she whispered, her voice echoing into nothingness. Then— It stopped. She stood in a vast, empty space. Endless. Silent. Cold. And she wasn’t alone. A figure stood across from her. Still. Watching. Waiting. Nyra’s breath caught. It looked like her. Same face. Same eyes. But different. Darker. Older. Stronger. “What… are you?” Nyra asked. The figure smiled faintly. Not kind. Not cruel. Just… certain. “I am what you were always meant to be.” Nyra’s chest tightened. “No,” she said. “You’re not me.” The figure tilted its head slightly. “Not yet.” Silence stretched. Heavy. Uncomfortable. Nyra’s hands clenched at her sides. “You’re the voice,” she said. The figure nodded once. “And more.” Nyra took a step back. “I don’t want you.” A soft laugh echoed. “You don’t get to choose that.” Anger flared instantly. “Yes, I do.” The figure’s eyes darkened slightly. “You tried to reject me once already.” Nyra froze. “What?” The figure stepped closer. Each step echoing unnaturally through the empty space. “When they broke you,” it said, “I was there.” Images flashed— Pain. Rejection. Loneliness. “And when you called for strength…” A pause. “I answered.” Nyra’s breath became uneven. “No…” “You needed me.” Nyra shook her head. “I didn’t ask for this!” The figure stopped in front of her. Close now. Too close. “You didn’t have to.” Silence. Then— “I chose you.” That hit harder than anything else. Nyra’s heart pounded violently. “Why me?” The figure’s expression softened slightly. “For the same reason they fear you.” A pause. “Because you can hold me.” Nyra froze. “What does that mean?” The figure leaned closer. Its voice dropping to a whisper. “It means…” The space around them trembled. “…you’re not just the last Origin.” Nyra’s breath stopped. “Then what am I?” The figure smiled. And for the first time— It felt truly dangerous. “You’re the first of something new.” Outside— Nyra’s body stood motionless. But the energy around her— It was rising. Violently. Uncontrollably. Ronan stepped back slightly. “This is bad.” Kael didn’t move. Because he knew— This wasn’t something they could fight normally. “This isn’t a power surge,” he said. Ronan’s eyes stayed locked on her. “No,” he muttered. “It’s a transformation.” Inside— Nyra shook her head. “No… I won’t let you take over.” The figure sighed softly. “You still think this is about control.” Nyra’s voice hardened. “It is.” The figure smiled again. “No.” A pause. “It’s about acceptance.” The darkness surged suddenly— Wrapping around Nyra— Pulling her in. Her breath hitched. “No—!” The figure’s voice echoed— Louder. Stronger. “You can’t fight what you are!” Nyra struggled— Pushed— Resisted— But the pull was too strong. Too deep. Too real. Then— She stopped. Her eyes widened slightly. Because suddenly— She understood something. The pain. The power. The voice. It wasn’t separate. It never was. Nyra’s breathing slowed. “No…” she whispered. The darkness paused. Confused. “I’m not fighting you,” she said. Silence. The figure stilled. “What?” Nyra lifted her head slowly. Her eyes— Clear. Steady. “I’m choosing myself.” The space trembled. The darkness cracked— Just slightly. And for the first time— The figure’s expression changed. Not confident. Not certain. Surprised. 🔥 Cliffhanger (Dreame) If Nyra stops fighting the darkness… will she control it—or become it?
