Acknowledgements
In the course of producing this book, Jay and Batuto have been a headache not only for AT but also for various Manila coffee shops and restaurants, for friends whom we plied with book or story drafts in the hope of encouragement, and friends whom we leaned on for moral support. Our gratitude goes out to them, especially the M Café for not showing us the door, and Steve Hillman, Tom Powell, Richie Quirino and Joan Taylor, for seeing some merit in the book instead of simply telling us that as writers we would make good truck drivers.
The recipients of the largest headaches, however, have been our wives, Margie and Pilita, who have had to suffer their way through numerous discussions about this story or that, while we were really talking to ourselves in the hope of encouragement from within. We thank them profusely for their love, patience and support throughout.
Finally, we apologize to those whom we have inadvertently (or not) defamed by misinterpreting their roles in some stories.
