I could not believe what I had just heard.
"All I care about is you." The words kept on ringing in my head all over and over again.
Darius was going to refuse the council's proposal. He was going to turn down a political marriage that would strengthen the pack, secure his position, and give him a legitimate mate in the eyes of the pack hierarchy.
"But why?"
He was not really my mate. He had never acknowledged the mate bond. He could not even register it, as far as I knew. And we have been together for weeks now. So why would he refuse such an important alliance for the sake of our arrangement?
An arrangement that meant nothing officially. An arrangement that was just physical satisfaction, just temporary, just something he could end whenever he wanted.
