In all the chaos of people rushing to secure their families and prepare defenses, I found myself scanning the area desperately for Adrian.
He should have been right beside me, helping coordinate the response, but he was nowhere to be seen.
"Where is Adrian?" I demanded, louder this time, my voice cutting through the noise.
The remaining guards and council members looked around, their expressions shifting from confused to concerned as they realized my mate had vanished.
I turned to Torren, who was already organizing the warriors. "Have you seen Adrian? Did you notice where he went?"
Torren paused, his brow furrowing as he thought back. "I caught a glimpse of him slipping out with the females. I assumed he was helping escort them to safety."
That made sense logic
