I had avoided this meeting for as long as possible. But after the burial and the packs fear and uncertainty had reached new heights, I knew I could no longer put it off.
The council members wanted to discuss the mate bond issue again.
So I had Torren inform them that I would meet with them and we would discuss this matter once and for all.
Now I sat at the head of the long council table, Torren at my right hand, and waited for them to arrive.
The first to enter was Elide, the elder in charge of women's affairs. She was a stern woman in her sixties, with grey hair pulled back severely and eyes that missed nothing.
Next came Todd, our healer. He looked exhausted from treating the wounded from the attack, but he had insisted on attending this meeting.
