Kain snarled inside me as I shook my head terribly trying to drown out Torrens word. That can't be possible. I felt the bond. Sebastian was still alive.
Suddenly the silence was broken by one of the guards who I had noticed examining the shelves along the wall.
He had stopped all of a sudden , and then he called quietly, "Alpha, over here."
I moved to where he was standing and looked at what he'd found. There, hidden between two shelves, was a small metal lock mechanism built into the wall.
It was cleverly disguised to look like part of the shelf support, but when you looked closely, you could see it was something else entirely.
The guard reached out and twisted it. There was a clicking sound, and a section of the wall swung inward, revealing a spiral staircase l
