“Oh, no you don’t,” he said. “Sit back and relax.” Christina’s eyes sprang wide, and as she perched on a stool across the island from them to watch, surprise gave way to relief. Heather again had to subdue the urge to punch her brother. It was a good thing he wasn’t in the same state right now, but he was going to get a piece of her mind when he got home. She kept an eye on her friend while she and Jeremiah chopped ingredients, concerned by the frown that occasionally darkened Christina’s pretty face and the way she kept reaching to massage her back and shifting on the stool like she couldn’t get comfortable.
