Lily

“Lily, I need one Americano and one latte ASAP.” Tiffany shouted as she ran in the shop, soaked to the bone in rain water. “You do know they invented umbrellas for a reason, right Tiff?” “Oh shut it, I do not need your sarcasm this morning Lily.” I laughed, Tiffany my best friend since middle school always has a flare for the dramatics. Her blonde hair was soaked against her tan skin and her clothes were like a second skin plastered to her tall fit body. She was the ying to my yang, complete opposite of me. I had pale white skin, glasses, bright red hair, standing at a whopping 5’2 and full of sarcasm. Don’t get me wrong I loved the way I looked but compared to Tiffany I always felt a little like the ugly duckling. “Earth to Lily, coffee me now please, I am dyyyinggg over here.” I laughed “ Well that’s what you get for going to Jeremys party on a Sunday night, who throws a party on Sunday anyway?” Jeremy was the flavor of the month for Tiffany, not that I was passing judgement, I loved her freestyle life. “Oh live a little Lily” she grumbled at me when I passed her both drinks. “It’s time to get back out there, your a smoking hot 23 year old with a V-card that is yet to be punched!” My eyes almost popped out of my head “ Oh thanks Tiff, just broadcast that to the whole world! I got a good idea I’ll just switch the free drink coupons with actual V-cards and just pass them out to all the customers!” I shout. “Now your talking Lily! Let’s look for potential cardholders” she giggles. I start to close down the shop.. it’s nearly 7 now and completely empty. In this small town I can’t remember the last time someone actually came in after 6 but I like the quiet so I don’t mind the hour of silence. I start taking the pastries out of the case, I can’t stand for them to go to waste so I usually take them to the homeless shelter. I love my little shop…it’s the only thing my parents left to me when they died 6 years ago.
