Chapter One

The Voice

"Mama it's high time you tell me, all I need to know if not.. if not this hut will not contain you and I !!" Amaka nagged at her mother who just sat quietly silently shedding tears.

"Mama these tears can't speak … they can't stop me from knowing all I need to know, how long will we continue like this no one to talk to, no Friends, nothing …nothing all you tell me is that I'll know when will the right time come"Amaka shouted, as if ignoring her, her mother stands up took a french walk this action get Amaka angry pissed as she starts packing her animal skin cloth and rush out of the hut into the forest, junior sister Ada starts running after her pleading with her not to go,refusing to look back neither acknowledge her little sister Amaka increase her walking pace.

"It's only a fool that goes into the battlefield without a plan, stop beating the drum of the spirit if you do not have dancers .!" Ada says on top of her voice so she can hear as she descends the hill, seeing that it doesn't work out as planned as she runs towards her.

"How long will we continue like this?! Ada yells reminding her of all her promises to never to leave the boundary again with this Amaka stops.

"Am tired of living this kind life,she doesn't feel sorry for us,I can't endure it anymore …am sorry" she replies, drying the tears falling from her eyes as her sister walks up to her.

"Remember this isn't permanent only if we take it the right way and sort the solution in the proper way, our Chi isn't asleep, our tears will definitely reach the heavens' ' Ada says, embracing her from behind.

" Am sorry but I can't return to that … " Amaka whispers amidst her tears.

"You can, remember we do not know what it looks like in the outside world ." She replies releasing her grip and nods in affirmation.

Few minutes after the children had left the hut uchenna their mother who had been silent for a long time started weeping as she started craving things down for about forty- five minutes afterward she started walking around the hut in lamentation.

"What sort of life am I living, chi mu o how long more do I have to continue like this! My ancestors, why have you forsaken me ?! What have I done wrong to deserve this ?? Oriza gozi omu o a wa ekula a a ju ma a o'' after lamenting over and over again she decided that the best decision was to kill herself with the thought that her kids are gone; setting her sucided items ready she claims the big tree she had set, putting the rope over her neck just then a mystical voice speaks in a thunderous way to her "The time has come !!" The voice says, while uchenna searches for the owner in panic, the voice which was filled with authority and power but found none terrified she shouted.

"Who are you and what do you want ?" She asks, still looking around her, she sits as she prepares herself for death in mind .

" Don't bother searching for me, young woman … it's time you tell them the truth for their people needs them …" the voice, confusion would be sensed around uchenna.

" I don't understand… what do you mean ?" Uchenna asks, facing the wall with the thought that whatever that is speaking is hidden in the wall.

"Obiora needs her, the people need them, especially your mother's land .." It could barely complete its statement before uchenna snaps at it.

"What people … !!! How dare you speak of that wretched community before me?!!" Uchenna remarks in anger.

" Woman obedient is better than sacrifice !! "With this said the voice faded and the boundary covering the hut slowly starts breaking making the hut slightly visible for the outside forest, seeing this uchenna screams knowing what danger lies await for them shivering in panic.

Few hours later the children walked in and saw the crave on the floor. They were amazed by it as they kept staring at it.

Looking up Amaka sight their mother on the floor she taps her sister as they rush towards her calling her upon not getting any response Ada started fanning her with cloth while Amaka rush to get water.

After many attempts to awaken her she starts to sneeze with the kids gathering around her in panic, in joy they rush out Ada carrying her bow and arrow in search for what to hunt .
