Chapter 2

353 Words
Makayla POV "Dan, where do you want these?" "Hey Em, thank you. You can drop those on the table over there." Dan is the only man I have been able to befriend since the incident. He is married to Sarah with two beautiful daughters, Mary (8) and Beth (13). They are the most perfect couple I have ever met. I met Sarah at the train station. I was lucky that she was kind enough to talk to me in that state. Battered and broken, she did not blink to give me a helping hand.Who knew where I would be if not for that fateful day. She was my angel. Though we were total strangers, her heart touched me that day, it was that one touch that mended the broken pieces. The touch of motherly love. I don't know how or why, but she saved me that day. "How's Sarah?" "She's on the morning shift today. Hopefully, I can get all this set up before she arrives" as he tries to decorate the rest of the house for their anniversary party. "Don't worry Dan, you are the most thoughtful person in this world and I know she will love and continue to love all that you do for her" "I dont know Em, I just want this night to be perfect for us" says Dan as he shuffles through trying to set up a perfect anniversary dinner for tonight. "She has given me two beautiful daughters and a loving home. I just want to show my appreciation. To let her know that I do appreciate all that she does for our children and I" It is that twinkle in his eyes that makes me want to believe that maybe just maybe someone is also waiting out there for me. Someone who would for once put me first and to be subjected to the torture of never being enough. The demons in my head are enough, enough to keep me locked down. Enough for me to question my self worth, but God, I pray that you can send me someone who is enough for me.
