12 Kiria Kiria and Jori went out of the palace to escape their guards, though guilt threaded through Kiria as she did so. Her guards had to be getting worried with all the time she spent sneaking off. Maybe it was unfair to them, but she wanted to be alone with somebody who wouldn’t expect anything from her and wouldn’t talk about anything serious. Jori was her best bet. And she wouldn’t be gone long. He ambled along beside her down the gravel paths of the garden, hands in his pockets. Far away, the splash of waves floated up from the coast.
