Sarah pov I stared at Adrian as he struggled to get up on his feet. Then my mind wandered a few hours ago. After he fell unconscious. A few hours before he worked up… “Sister, we should help him,” I said, pressing his wounds. “Ehn, that isn't a good idea though” The skinny guy responded. His body looked broken, as if he would fall any moment from now. “Hehehe, don't worry, I am not like him, I won't die easily, I am John” He stretched his hand out for a handshake. That hand looked bruised, probably from Adrian fangs, and claws. Yet they were healing at a visible rate. “Sarah, we should start going now” My sister came forward, she had shifted back to her original self. “But, he will be all alone” I felt my heart beat watching him lay on the floor. If we leave now, won't some random beast come and feast on him. “Let's leave, he will be alright” My sister dragged me out. Then I remembered, those eyes, she was the cause of all this. “No, I rather stay and wait for him to wake up.” I refused directly. Kate looked at me, her expression unreadable. “Fine do what ever you want.” Kate walked away angry to the other side. I looked at the figure that was on the ground. I had a lot to do. First I have to treat his wound, before bandaging it. “Here, you just have to smash it into bits to draw the water out, feed him to it, it will help him to cure the poison inside him” The tree killer handed me some blue leaves. “Thanks” I really needed this. “Zero, Zero is the name” “Thanks Zero” Now the only problem was how was I going to grind this and extract the water away. “Well, you can actually chew it and apply the mouth to mouth techniques right?” John suggested, his lips had this mischievous smirk. “Uhh” I blink. Was this necessary, saying that out loud? I felt my cheek rising, this John does know how to say something weird. I chew down the leaves. It tasted bland at first, before I started tasting the bitter taste of it. Once I was able to extract the water. I knelt besides him, all eyes on me in a kind of way, I knew I was going to regret this. But looking at those lips that seems cold, probably from the poison. I knew I was just saving a life. Pinching his nose lightly, I pressed down on his lips with my lips, and extracted the water into his mouth. So soft. I can't believe I just kissed him, and he is my mate, a mate that bullied me a few minutes back. But then I haven't kissed anyone before, never had a date. Because I stayed with my father, in that big and boring palace. Was kissing ever this good? After the kiss. I pulled out of him, and threw the leaves away. What was originally a blue leaf is now a brown leaf. “My princess, here's the bandages” One of Kate's bodyguards walked up to me and handed me some bandages. I collected it and bandaged him. Thankfully, I was quite skillful in this. Anytime, some of the soldiers do come back from war injured against the other race, I treat their injuries, as right was the only useful thing I could do, after being locked up in a full castle. After bandaging him, I looked at my work with full satisfaction, and left to find my sister. “You are done.” Kate squatted on the ground, drawing something on the ground, she seemed absentminded. “Yeah” I squat besides her, watching her draws lines and lines on the ground. My mind wandered to where we were just kids, before she left home to this place. We were in the field playing on a sunny day, and suddenly she mistakenly killed a bird. I remembered how she cried that day, she refused to eat. That when father found out about this he got angry and sent her into the battle, where she was forced to kill herself out. “You were thinking I was too rash or wicked in telling you to leave him to his death.” Kate spoked up “No, I was just thinking about the old good days we spent together.” I looked at my sister, she had indeed changed, what changed her? Was it life, father, or the situation she met herself in. She remembers me being the rebellious one and her being the sweet and lovely girl to a Harden general who fought three successful wars before being promoted to the post of a general, and the heir to fathers throne. “Life always finds ways to teach us a lesson, you never know what might happen if we happen to save him. I'm speaking of experience” She stood up “Father didn't send you here, right?” “I- I, how do you know” I stood up, the headmaster believed me when I handed him the forged letter. But how was Kate able to determine that father never sent me here?” Kate looked at me “because I am not here for schooling, I am on a mission.” “What?” I stared straight at my sister in shock. “And John and Zero happens to be part of the mission.” That was when it hit me. No wonder John and Zero were together with my sister, they were on a mission. But what mission exactly. “And a quick reminder. Don't get too close to Adrian,he's always been a lone wolf. His history is complicated, and you don't want to be caught in a struggle of power.” Kate didn't seem to know that Adrian is my mate? How will she react if I tell her that my mate is Adrian, her enemy. “Kate, Adrian is my… My… my mate” I stuttered around, but was able to get the word out fast. She looked at me with shock, but was able to return back to normal quickly. “That explains why Zero was able to deal the fatal strike. He was distracted, looking at you” “This is interesting,” Kate chuckled slightly. “What's the problem sis” I asked feeling confused.. “What if I tells you that you unknowingly entered father's mission, in fact you are a great ace to his plan” “What?”
