The streets were eerily quiet as we moved, sticking to the shadows. Every sound such as the distant footsteps, the rustling of the wind sent a fresh wave of paranoia through me. William led the way, his pace quick but controlled. I followed closely behind, gripping my mother’s wheelchair as we navigated through the uneven pavement.
