Chapter 44

''Alessandro? Alessandro?'' Luciana called as she made her way through the hallways.

She needed to tell Alessandro what she had just discovered. Enzo had already posed a direct threat to her and the entire group at large and she knew she'd be a fool not to act on it.

''In here Diabla.'' Alessandro called out.

Luciana followed the trace of his voice and finally found him in the small living room beside the kitchen.

''Alessandro, you wouldn't believe what i just bheard.'' Luciana said.

Alessandro couldn't determine what type of emotions she was feeling but one thing was certain and it was that she was angry as well as intrigued.

''What's the matter Diabla?'' Alessandro asked.

''Enzo just called me now and guess what? He's the one responsible for setting off that gas flare.'' Luciana seethed.

As she talked about it now, she was more than angry. She didn't know what motive he had to do something like that but she realized that he didn't need to have any motive. It was all clear now and his aim was to destabilize her and render her scared and frightened.

''Are you sure about this?'' Alessandro asked carefully.

He wanted to be really sure about it so he would know how to press charges. Enzo had just carried out a direct attack on the group and Alessandro knew that he wouldn't allow him escape it. Enzo wanted trouble and Alessandro would make sure he gave him just that.

''Yes, i am sure.'' Luciana said.

She proceeded to play the recording of the call she had smartly taken to further corroborate her claims. As Alessandro listened to every word from both sides, he was getting more and more angry. It was true and at that moment, he couldn't wait to get his hands on Enzo. He would squeeze the life out of him.

''That bastard!'' Alessandro seethed.

''I want him dead Alessandro. I don't care how you do it just make sure he never lives on the surface of the earth again.'' Luciana said.

She had had enough of him and couldn't wait for him to get out of her hair. Besides being so full of himself, he had just directly told them that he was prepared for war and would stop at any length just to have it. If that wasn't being wicked and heartless, he didn't know what that was.

''You have my word Diabla, I will make sure i deal with him.'' Alessandro vowed.

''You want to press charges first?'' Luciana asked.

Sometimes, she actually knew what he was thinking about which left him surprised as well as amazed. There was no doubt that they worked well together.

''I had that thought at the initial stage but with the gravity of what he has done, no i would go for the offensive.'' Alessandro hissed.

''Great! Because you know that wouldn't work. Enzo is as rich and influential like us and it wouldn't be a surprise if he bought his way out if detention.'' Luciana sighed.

''I understand. I really don't plan on doing that either.''Alessandro said.

''I'll be in my room if you need me.'' Luciana said, walking out of the living room.

She sighed yet again, something she seemed to be doing on a regular basis now. It was all due to the fact that she was tired and hopeless about everything. Enzo, who should have been her supporter in the fight against the Fontanas, was actually going against her. This was something Luciana thought she would never see but apparently. it was happening.

''I hate you Enzo with every fiber of my being.'' Luciana said just as she walked into her room..

She shut the door with a bang, falling on her bed in pure exhaustion. It wasn't even afternoon yet and she was already this tired. Well, it was all thanks to the bastard she had for a cousin.

''I'll be careful with that door if i were you.''

Luciana whipped her head around to see Reed smiling from a corner of the room. He was sitting down on her high back chair, casually tapping away on his phone.

''How did you get in here?'' Luciana asked.

She would never get tired of asking that question because it always left her surprised and amazed. Reed had skills, she would give him that but still, it was odd to see him go in and come in without being caught.

''I told you before love, i have my ways so don't bother your cute head about it.'' Reed chuckled.

Luciana sat up, staring into space. Everything that had happened had disoriented her with no hope of her ever being stable this morning.

''Baby girl, what's wrong?'' Reed sighed.

''It's been a very long morning and we haven't even gotten to the afternoon yet.'' Luciana groned.

Reed rose up from his chair, walking towards her with a confused look on his face. There were many things that annoyed Luciana but one thing he knew that annoyed her the most was when she was being threatened.

''Enzo?'' Reed asked.

''The Idiota.'' Luciana spat.

''What did he do this time around?'' Reed asked.

Luciana gave him a breakdown of everything that happened within the space of a few hours. It was weird as she talked about it because she didn't think that she would have to worry over the state and welfare of her house. Now, Enzo had successfully put them on his rader and she had a feeling that there would be more attacks to come.

'''He did what?!'' Reed snapped.

''Yes, that's what he did.'' Luciana sighed.

''Is he crazy, someone could have been killed.'' Reed seethed.

''Apparently, he didn't think about that. Anyway, not to worry, I've already told Alessandro to begin his termination process. Even though he's my cousin, he's a devil and I will never judge based on familiarity. That was a direct attack and it was a threat to everyone i care about including the staffs of this house and i will not have him disrupt the peace we have been enjoying for so long.'' Luciana seethed.

With the way she spoke, Reed was very proud to call her his girl. She spoke so brilliantly and he vowed to support her every step of the way.

''I agree with what you have said. Enzo needs to be taught a very bitter lesson, something he would never forget for the rest of his life.'' Reed snapped.

The duo stayed in silence for a while, each with their own thoughts. There were many things going on all at the same time at such a fast phase neither could keep up. Now, it was left for them to handle everything with diplomacy as well as action because one thing they knew was that the opposition wouldn't be lenient in ensuring they were all destroyed.

''I hate him. I hate him with every fiber of my being.'' Luciana seethed.

Reed took her hands in his, giving it a gentle squeeze. He actually knew how she was feeling because at a certain point of his life, he had been there.

''Don't let him get your baby. Don't let him take up space in that head of yours. Enzo is not worth it and he would never be worth it. All we have to do is to focus on the things that matter and that is uniting both families together. Enzo is just by the way.'' Reed said.

His words were very assuring and Luciana was happy she had someone like him in her corner. He just made everything easy even without him trying too much. It was a really beautiful thing to see.

''Thank you. I really don't know what I would have done if you weren't here. Alessandro can't give me all of this support even though he's trying his best. As it is, he is choked neck deep in work and after all of this is over, he deserves a long ass break.'' Luciana sighed.

Reed kissed the top of her head, loving the way she shivered in happiness. He had made the promise to her before to always keep her safe and he sure as hell wasn't going to go back on that promise.

Just then, his phone gave a loud beep which indicated he had a call. Glancing at the Caller ID, Reed discovered it was hi head of security calling. This was odd to say the least and he really hoped that nothing bad had occurred.

''Yes?'' Reed asked upon picking up the call.

He listened to everything he said in silence and the more he stayed longer on the phone, the more he became anxious. It was even evident in his face which left Luciana feeling worried because very little things had him worried.

''Alright, i'll be there soon.'' Reed sighed before cutting the call.

''Baby, what's wrong?'' Luciana asked.

''My head of security just called to tell me that the council of elders need my attention immediately for an important meeting. I really don't know why this is happening because i never knew of any meeting before i left the house.'' Reed said.

''Perhaps they just thought about it now and decided to call you. Don't worry love, just go and find out what they want.'' Luciana smiled, giving his hands a gentle squeeze.

''Okay, I will. Will you be okay on your own?'' Reed asked.

''Of course, I will. I'm a big girl you know.'' Luciana laughed.

Reed chuckled, rising to his feet. He hated to leave her alone when it was at this time she really needed him the most but in that moment, his hands were tied. It was odd for the council of elders to call a meeting just like without any prior notice.

''I love you baby, i'll see you later.'' Reed said.

He made his way towards the window, jumping out like a prized athlete before disappearing completely.

''That man.'' Luciana laughed.

He sighed, curling in a ball on her bed. She hated feeling this way but she knew she might always feel this way until Enzo and all of the issues in her life were a thing of the past.
