Chapter 42
''Do you need me to come with you?'' Reed asked.
He hated seeing her this way especially when she was disturbed and agitated. He swore within himself to deal with Enzo if he so much as hurt one strand of her hair. Ever since Luciana had told him about her cousin, he'd been getting a very bad vibe from him.
''No love, it's fine. I'll call you as soon as i sort this out.'' Luciana said, giving him a kiss.
Reed drew her closer, breathing in the scent of his shampoo she had used to bathe. Now, she smelt like him and he loved it because finally, they were one.
''Please don't die on me and promise me you'll call.'' Reed sighed.
''I promise, I will. You've got nothing to fear.'' Luciana assured him.
Reed sighed, giving her a long kiss before he escorted her out of the house. He wasn't bothered about any of his men seeing her in his mansion because he was quite sure she was swift enough and could get out of the house undetected but still, he just wanted to make sure she got out alright.
''I'll call you okay?'' Luciana said from within her car.
''Okay.'' Reed smiled.
She drove off, practically sailing through the air. She had always been a rough driver and Reed put it at the back of his mind to talk to her about it when next he had the chance.
''Your b***h is gone.''
Reed didn't need to turn back to know that it was Valentina who spoke. He felt irritated for two major things and the first being that she was still here and secondly, she had the guts to insult Luciana, a woman who was ten times more than her.
''What did you say?'' Reed said quietly.
He turned around to face the i***t of a woman who had the guts to speak. Somehow, a quiet Reed was far more dangerous than an angry one because out of his quietness birthed a lion and Valentina had just come to realize that.
''I-''
Before she could complete her statement, Reed pounced on her, holding her neck in a stronghold. He wasn't in the mood for bullshitting and the earlier she got that in her head, the better for her.
''Now, i don't know what my later father might have told you but i want you to listen to me and listen well.'' Reed seethed.
''Stop… stop, you're cho…king me.'' Valentina croaked.
She could hardly breath but that was how Reed wanted it. In this way, she would understand the full import of what he was trying to tell her.
''I will never get married to you and I want you to know that. You are not my type and you are a gold digger and a w***e. The next time you speak badly about my woman, I will personally kill you with my bare hands before she comes for your corpse. Now, do i make myself clear?'' Reed said.
''Yes… yes, please let me go.'' Valentina begged.
Reed released her and soon, she went into a coughing fit. He smirked, staring at her as she tried to come to terms with the fact that she had almost died.
''You will never get away with this. I will have you no matter what happens.'' Valentina said before staggering away.
Reed sighed because he didn't actually expect her to go with his plans. He had known her to be a very stubborn woman and it showed in the way she did things.
''Then prepare to die.'' he laughed.
Meanwhile, Luciana who had almost gotten to her home was still surprised over the fact that Enzo was in her house. Even though she had warned and threatened him, he still had the guts to show his face in her mansion and what's worse, he was dating her.
''I really think you want to die.'' Luciana seethed.
She got to her house soon, storming up the pathway that led to the front doors of the mansion. She was angry, livid in fact. At that moment, all sense of reasoning had completely flown out of her head.
''Where is he? Where is that bastard?'' Luciana screamed.
The guards knew better than to talk because she wasn't asking them. The only person that could talk sense into her at that moment was Alessandro and even he would have a hard time doing that.
Luciana stalked through the hallways before finally finding him at the main bar beside the pool. His back was to her's and in that moment, she wanted to just shoot him and be done with him.
''You not only come to my house even when I have warned you severally but you also have the guts to take from my drink. Now, it's been confirmed that you have a death wish on your head.'' Luciana said.
Enzo turned around upon hearing her voice and he smirked. He counted on her coming here but he didn't quite expect it to be as fast as this.
''Here's my beautiful cousin.'' he smiled.
He walked towards her but the death look he saw on her face stopped him in his tracks. Anymore step he took could very well result in his death and he was quite sure her men were all over the place.
''You're back.'' Alessandro said.
He walked in from the adjoining door, no doubt coming from the library which was his most favorite place in the mansion.
''Save me Andro, she's going to have my head.'' Enzo mocked before bursting into laughter.
''You think this is funny? You really think it is?'' Luciana seethed.
She couldn't quite understand why he failed to see how serious she was. She wasn't joking around and the earlier he got that into his head, the better for him.
''Enzo, what do you want? You know you're not allowed here.'' Alessandro said.
In matters like this, he knew he had to use diplomacy in solving it but if he still wasn't ready to be sensible, he had no other option but to leave him to his faith and that would be so much worse.
''To rightfully take what belongs to me and that is the leadership of the Andreas group,'' he said.
Luciana could hardly believe what she was hearing. The first time she had heard him say this was through the phone and at that time, she thought he was joking but now that he repeated it, Luciana knew he wasn't.
''What?!'' she barked.
''Yes cousin. The leadership of this group belongs to me. You are only a mere woman who shouldn't be concerned with any of this.'' Enzo said.
He downed the rest of his drinks, slamming the cup on the bar table. Alessandro, who couldn't believe what he said, stared at him with fire in his eyes.
''I swear to God if you break that cup, I will use the pieces to carve your name on your back. That cup is more valuable than you are.'' Luciana seethed.
She couldn't help but think that this was a direct threat to her and the group in general. If Enzo was really planning this, Luciana knew that she had to find a way to take him out without it being directly linked to her. When it came to family issues like this, she had to be extra careful in how she does things.
''You lie!'' Luciana screamed.
She stalked towards him and she smiled when she heard guns c****d in all directions. Her men were doing a fantastic job and any wrong move Enzo made now would result in his death. All guns were pointed at him now and they were just waiting for her command to finish him off.
''You hear that? That's the sound of loyalty because they know who the boss is. So Enzo cousin, it would be best for you if you take your stupid self out of my building.'' Luciana smiled.
It was a sickly sweet smile that was devoid of any emotions whatsoever. The only thing that was in the smile was anger and a promise to kill.
Enzo, seeing that he was cornered, walked back but the annoying smile never left his lips. It just told Luciana that he wasn't backing down on this.
''I'll be back and you'll be sorry.'' he said, walking out of the mansion.
The men eased up on their guns when they saw that he would no longer be a threat to their boss. Alessandro sighed, gripping her shoulders.
''He's just bluffing.'' he lied.
He knew that it was more than a bluff. It was a threat and also a promise but he just said that to make Luciana feel better even though it wouldn't because she already knew he was lying.
''I need to end him, finish him once and for all.'' she said quietly.
''He's family Diabla.'' Alessandro said.
''I do not care.'' she screamed.
Her whole body was shaking in apparent anger as she stared at the spot Enzo had stood before. Luciana couldn't quite believe that this was happening to her. Her cousin who should have been a strong support system for her was actually going against her. It was absurd to say the least but she realized that she really couldn't trust anyone.
''I need to think.'' Luciana sighed.
''Okay, i'll be at the library if you want to talk.'' Alessandro said.
He gave her hands a gentle squeeze before walking out of the bar. Luciana sighed, walking towards the large pool. She could vividly remember her father taking her for a swim here when she was little. Those days had been fun days, days she had practically anticipated for but when her mother left, those days were forever gone.
''This is all so very complicated.'' Luciana sighed.
Luciana made her way towards one of the chairs that faced the pool, sitting down on it as she gripped her hair. She was beyond frustrated now but she knew she couldn't allow that because what was before her was a battle no one else but her could win.
Luciana knew that it was time to step up her game in dealing with anyone who crossed her path and now, she would begin with Enzo.
