Chapter 7

Later that day, Luciana had a very important meeting with some of the heads of the group. It was a meeting that would discuss their plans on how to destroy the Fontana’s without allowing any of them to escape. Luciana was fully ready to carry out this operation and she would never slack in it. That night, just before the meeting, Luciana stayed back in her room, going over what she was going to talk about. There were many things to discuss destroying Fontana's top on her list. Soon, it was time for the meeting as she made her way downstairs towards the large hall. As soon as she stepped into the hall, the rest of the members all stood up, bowing their heads in respect and reverence. As it stood, she was the leader with her father being able to do little to nothing. Luciana made her way towards the head of the table, standing with arms akimbo as she stared at the men who had proven their loyalty to her and the group at large. Just then, a deep shudder passed through her as she stared at the men. She couldn’t help but think that there might be one of them here who might have betrayed them and given out secret information to the Fontana’s. If that was true, Luciana would deal with whoever it was mercilessly because if there was something she hated, it was betrayal. ‘’You may sit.’’ Luciana ordered. The men sat down before she sat. There was silence all around the room as they waited for her to speak, they knew that this meeting wasn’t one that was normal. In fact, it was a high security meeting that concerned all of them and the earlier they sorted it, the better for all of them. ‘’As you know, for many years, we have been greatly threatened by the Fontana’s. They have not only threatened our peace, but they have taken something that is precious to us and to me personally, my mother.’’ Luciana said. There were several nods from the men as they all agreed to what she said. Alessandro, who was also present in the room, had a deep frown on his face. He hated the Fontana’s like the very dirt on his shoes and he couldn’t wait to deal with them. ‘’My father is currently bedridden due to a stroke that occurred a few hours ago and as you all know, the Fontana’s caused it.’’ Luciana said. There was silence again as each man had the same livid expressions on their faces. It was one of pure hatred and anger. Luciana had no doubt that if the Fontana’s were to attack now, her men would annihilate them without blinking an eye. ‘’So that leaves us with the most prominent question gentlemen, what do we do to stop them? All ideas are welcome.’’ Luciana said, sitting back on her chair. There were murmurs between them as each man was trying to share the best idea there was. Luciana trusted he man and she knew how smart they were and if anyone could find any answer to this, it was her men. Luciana already had her plans but she wanted to hear what the men had to say. No matter what was decided here, she would still go on with her plans. ‘’We can begin attacking from the inside.’’ a man said. He was tall and buffy. He had a deep voice that practically shook the corners of the large hall. Luciana understood what he meant but she wanted him to expantiate on it. ‘’What do you mean?’’ she asked. ‘’I mean, we employ someone from the inside to feel us information about their every move.’’ the man said. That was exactly what Luciana intended to do but she kept that piece of information to herself. There was no need announcing that when the process was already underway. ‘’Diabla, i think that’s a good idea.’’ Alessandro said. Luciana knew he was only playing along for the benefit of everyone. She liked that in him and sent him a small smile which he acknowledged with a wink. ‘’A spy? Is that what you mean?’’ Luciana asked. ‘’Yes Diabla, that is exactly what i mean.’’ the man said. Luciana didn’t know the man’s name but she knew him to be a very strong and dedicated member of the group. ‘’I see. I shall go on with this idea of yours.’’ Luciana said. Since that was done, she rose up on her feet, preparing to leave. There was nothing much to be discussed again. ‘’I will begin the first phase of the plan on my own and give you all the progress. Until then, keep your eyes and ears open.’’ she said. The men rose up on their feet in respect before Luciana walked out of the room. Alessandro was on her tail as she made her way towards her father’s room. ‘’I presume we still have a prisoner down in the basement?’’ Luciana asked. ‘’Yes, we do. What do you plan to do with him?’’ Alessandro asked. ‘’You’ll see soon.’’ Luciana smiled. That smile sent shivers down Alessandro’s spine. He knew what that smile was. It was a smile of evil to come and all things bad. He knew what Luciana could do and he feared it. He wasn’t quite ready for the beast in her to come in because he knew that if it did, there would be no stopping her. They got to the room soon and upon seeing her father, Luciana’s heart skipped several beats. Her father was breathing but barely. He was still trying to hold on to the last strands of life but even at that, he was fighting a lost battle. He was so frail and thin that Luciana feared that he would give up the ghost anytime soon. ‘’Diablo.’’ Luciana said. Her father’s frail head looked towards her as he smiled at his daughter. His eyes were much dimmer than she had remembered it but that wasn’t odd because of what he was currently passing through. ‘’Papa, i just had a meeting with the heads.’’ Luciana said, taking her father’s hands. It was very cold and clammy, a testament to the fact that he was living his final moments in life. Alessandro who stood at a corner of the room bowed his head in reverence. To see the don looking this way saddened him greatly and he really wished there was something he could do to ease his pain. ‘’I’m proud of you.’’ he coughed. Luciana smiled, fighting desperately to hold back her tears. She didn’t want to cry and appear weak before the man who had taught her to be strong. No, she would not do that. ‘’Father, the traitor is still in our hold. What shall i do to him?’’ Luciana asked. ‘’Do with him as you please Mija, I have no use for him.’’ he said. That was all the confirmation Luciana needed. Alessandro who was behind her shuddered in fright upon seeing the evil look in her eyes. He knew what was to follow and what would follow wouldn’t be good. ‘’Deal with him as you see fit.’’ the don said. ‘’Very well father.’’ Luciana grinned. She kissed his cheek, muttering sweet words in his ears. She didn’t want to lose hope on the fact that her father was going to die. That was a finality she wasn’t yet ready to accept and accepting that meant that she had given up on everything. ‘’You shall hear his screams from here father.’’ Luciana said, walking out of the room. Alessandro followed behind her from behind as they made their way towards the basement. That was where the prisoner was held. Just as she was about to enter the basement, Luciana stopped in her tracks. For this part, she didn’t need Alessandro because what would result from this would be very bloody. She didn’t want him to see this and even though he had his fair share of blood and blood bath, Luciana realized that what she was about to do to this prisoner was somewhat personal and she didn’t want anyone beside her no matter who that person might be. ‘’You don’t need me here?’’ Alessandro asked. Asides being very observant, Alessandro also knew what she thought about sometimes. How he knew that was something she couldn’t quite understand. It was strange to say the least. ‘’I’m afraid not.’’ Luciana said. ‘’Very well. If you need my help, you know where to find me.’’ Alessandro said. Luciana nodded as she watched him walk out of the basement. As soon as he was gone, Luciana shut the large doors with the keys. Naturally, the basement was very cold due to the fact that it was the last floor in the whole building. The sound of the door shutting close startled the prisoner who had been laying down in a fetal position. He sat up immediately as soon as he heard the door slam shut and he had a feeling that the end was here. ‘’Who is it?’’ the man stuttered. He didn’t need to ask because as soon as the words left his mouth, Luciana appeared. There was a dead look in her eyes as she stared at the man who had once been a member of the group. There was no other feeling going through her mind other than hate and reproach. ‘’Diabla.’’ the man cried out. He shook like a leaf as Luciana walked towards him with a maniacal smile on her face. She was going to have so much fun with the man and at that moment, she really didn’t know where to begin. ‘’Death.’’ Luciana simply said. ‘’No please.’’ the man cried out. ‘’Death has finally come to you.’’ Luciana smiled.
