Chapter 20
The day of the ball arrived without any fanfare. That morning, Luciana was unusually quiet. The main reason was due to the fact that she wanted to align all of her plans in a more understandable manner. She hadn’t told Alessandro this yet but her plans were mainly scattered. Fine, she had the understanding of what she wanted to do but at other times, she was really confused about what she wanted to do.
Luciana, still in her night robe, made her way towards the window, looking out of it. This whole group was here's to rule and command and still, she couldn’t quite believe that it was her’s to rule.
‘’How did you do all of this father?’’ Luciana murmured.
Just then, there was a knock on her door and she knew that it had to be Alessandro. There was no other person that dared come to her room that morning. It was either him or any of the guards.
‘’Diabla.’’ Alessandro called out.
‘’Hold on.’’ Luciana said.
She tied her sleeping robe around her body before walking towards the door. She knew Alessandro wanted to find out about her plans concerning the ball which was that evening.
Luciana ushered him in but she had a feeling that he wouldn’t stay for long. He had this sense of urgency in him that she couldn’t quite understand.
‘’Alessandro what’s going on?’’ Luciana asked.
‘’Diabla, good morning.’’ Alessandro said.
‘’What’s going on?’’ Luciana asked.
‘’I’m going over to the venue of the ball to secure the perimeter.’’ he said.
Luciana thought about it for a while and she knew that he was right. The best way to get your enemies off guard was by knowing all about their whereabouts. Alessandro’s plans to know the venue of the Fontana’s ball was something she never thought about. What better way to stake out their venue than being there a lot earlier than they could ever imagine.
‘’To be honest Alessandro, i never thought about that.’’ Luciana chuckled.
Alessandro blessed her with a rare smile but deep down, Luciana knew he was still sad. The only time she knew he would be happy was when she defeated the Fontana’s. That was the only time his heart could be at peace.
‘’Okay but please be careful Alessandro, i really don’t want you to get hurt.’’ Luciana said.
‘’Always.’’ Alessandro said before walking out of the room.
Luciana sighed, staring at herself in her mirror. If she wanted to get to the ball on time, it was best she prepared now. One thing Luciana hated was to arrive at a place very late especially if that place was very important. The ball she was to attend was very important and the fate of her whole group rested on the success of the plan.
Soon, the time for her to prepare for the ball arrived and she wasted no time in getting into it. Already, she had gotten her gown from the top shot designer that designed most of Andreas ' clothing.
Quickly taking her bath, Luciana wore her dress and when she glanced at herself in the mirror, she couldn’t quite believe that she was staring at herself. She had never looked so beautiful in that moment and she desperately wished her father could see her. Luciana had no doubt that he would have been very proud.
‘’I miss you Papa.’’ Luciana murmured.
Soon, she was done dressing and ready to leave. It was already evening and Luciana knew she needed to be at the venue at least an hour early. She wasn’t only going there for dancing, she was also going there to fight not only for herself but also for her family and her group in general. One thing Luciana knew was that she would never allow the Fontana's to have the last laugh. They had destroyed her family beyond repair and she wouldn’t give them the satisfaction of having the last laugh.
That was the first thing she was going to do, the ones coming after that would no doubt be bloody and even this city wouldn’t contain them. Despite all of this, Luciana knew she had to give the council of elders a report on all she had done. That was the way it went.
Luciana knew it was due to the fact that she was still very young to rule hence the law. If it was still her father ruling, they dared not say anything like that. Lucian wanted to hate it, she wanted to defy it but she knew that would just be like playing with the lion’s tail. It was impossible so it was better she forgot all about it.
Soon, Luciana was ready to leave. She looked at herself in the mirror one last time before walking out of the room. Already her car was waiting outside. Luciana would have preferred to drive alone but she didn’t want to raise heads. It was a ball after all and everyone expected everyone to be driven.
This time around, in order not to raise suspicions, Luciana drove in an SUV as against her lamborghini she usually liked driving in. With this, she knew that no eye would look at her strangely. She was dressed in a beautiful ball gown and was being driven by a chauffeur, no eye would be raised towards her suspiciously.
‘’Take the back entrance.’’ Luciana said.
‘’Yes Diabla.’’ the driver said.
If he found this order odd, he made no mention of it. It was his job to follow orders and not question them and if he didn’t want to die, he knew he had to follow it to the latter. As they drove towards the venue of the ball, Luciana radioed Alessandro who was already on standby hours ago with her men.
‘’How’s it going?’’ she asked.
‘’No activity so far, just some of the staffs going in and coming out trying to make everything okay.’’ Alessandro said.
‘’Okay. Soon, we might have some real action.’’ Luciana said.
‘’Are you trying to attack today?’’ Alessandro asked.
He tried his best to hide his surprise but Luciana saw it faster than he could say his name. She was always good at detecting hidden meanings. It was the one thing her father had taught her about times without numbers.
‘’Calm down big guy. The only time i’m going to attack is if i’m provoked.’’ Luciana said.
Just like she had ordered, the driver took the back entrance. This side was relatively uglier than the front side but Luciana liked it so. She knew that it was in areas like this that bad things occurred. At that moment, she couldn’t place the feeling but she knew that something would happen soon.
‘’Alright but please, you know our plans and its best if you don’t float them.’’ Alessandro said.
‘’Sure.’’ Luciana simply said before cutting the call.
‘’The back entrance ma’am.’’ the driver said.
‘’Just wait here and it's best if you don’t say a word.’’ Luciana said.
Just as she had predicted, a large buffy man walked up to the car. Since it was relatively dark, Lucina couldn’t quite see him well but from what she could gather, he was a rather large man. Even without him speaking, Luciana knew he belonged to the Fontana’s. She could practically smell the evil all around him.
It was vile and plain disgusting. There was no need for him to talk for her to know that she needed to finish him off but only after getting some information from him.
‘’Yes.’’ he said, flashing his light into the car.
Luciana squinted her eyes a bit but that was only a ruse. She could perfectly see well even with the brightest light on. There were so many trainings she had undergone, some of which she couldn’t even remember.
‘’Oh, i’m sorry sir but i think we’re lost.’’ Luciana said.
Her accent this time around was laced with a very heavy russian undertone. She also made it in such a way that she looked scared and helpless and she was looking up to the man as a savior.
‘’What do you mean lost?’’ the man said, looking into the car.
‘’Diabla.’’ the driver said quietly.
He was so quiet that Luciana was the only one who could hear him. She had no doubt that the big buffy man had no clue on whether he spoke or not.
‘’Leave him to me,’’ Luciana said just as quietly as the man.
She unlocked the car, getting down to face the man. Upon seeing him, one thing she realized was that he was even buffier than how she imagined him to be. One of his arms was as big as her whole body. But this didn’t intimidate her, instead she was very happy that she had someone to kill, someone who was a part of the group she hated like the very dirt under her feet.
‘’Oh, you’re a pretty thing.’’ the man grinned.
Luciana could see that he was missing one or two front teeth and if all went well, he wouldn’t have anyone left.
‘’Please sir, can you point us in the right direction?’’ Luciana said, still maintaining her disguise.
‘’What if we have some fun before I show you eh… pretty girl.’’ he grinned.
He didn’t seem to care that they had another company. Her driver stared at the man with a dead look in his eyes. He was still in the car and all he was waiting for was an order from her to finish him off but this time around, Luciana wanted to do this on her own.
‘’Okay.’’ she said, urging him forward.
The man jumped at the opportunity as he rushed towards her. What happened next was a whirlwind of surprise, anger and at last pain and soon, the man found himself on the ground, sporting a bloodied face. It was almost unrecognizable.
‘’How many guests are coming this evening?’’ Luciana asked, returning to her normal voice.
‘’A thousand. Please, have mercy on me.’’ the man said, holding his bloodied face.
Luciana had no pity for a scumbag like this because he and his group had caused her so much pain, some of which she was already used to.
‘’And Reed? Your heir?’’
‘’He will be in attendance.’’ the man groaned.
‘’Good. Have a nice after life.’’ Luciana said before snapping his neck.
She watched the life leave his eyes and soon, she was back in her car, heading towards the main entrance where the party would finally begin.
