I want to scream, to pull away from Ladon’s mouth and tell him to stop. I want to command him to put me down. It feels so wrong to leave Iseldir there. Also, I’m not a big fan of having enormous teeth clamped around my torso. Every cell of my body wants to get out. This isn’t exactly how I envisioned this day going. But I can’t do anything about it, and I don’t like feeling so helpless. All I can do is sit here like an over-sized dog toy. Ladon flies over the hills, far away from the village to get us to safety. “You can put me down now,” I snap once we’ve put a safe distance behind us. I know I should be grateful.
