81 0 DAYS REMAINING All Alice felt at first was the grass rubbing against the small of her back, where her shirt had ridden up. Then came the scratch of rope. The net was moving fast across the ground. Alice attempted to shake off the fog hanging heavy over her mind. She slipped back into unconsciousness, before a loud rumble of thunder snapped her awake again. The storm was closing in. Her body tangled in a ball. She saw the totem-like legs of the two creatures, dragging her at speed. She thought she saw the undersides of their feet. The black rubber tread of boots.
