43 The floats bringing up the rear of the parade were the real showpieces everyone looked forward to. Each year, it was the same running order. The first was in honor of agriculture, with farmers standing amid plastic hay bales, corn, and cattle. The second belonged to Nature's Glory, featuring Kilbride and staff in matching brand T-shirts. Then came a mix of weird and wonderful sports team trailers. The high school football team stood on one, while the cheerleading squad rode on top of a honking fire truck. But the showstopper for the entire parade had to be the homecoming court. The longest, fanciest float of them all. Full of boys in tuxes and girls in a rainbow of glitzy gowns. They all lined up on either side of an antique wooden throne that looked old enough to pre-date the town. T
